SJMSOM IIT-B Interview Experience

The interview for SJMSOM IIT-B was conducted on an online platform called Gather town. It was a gamified platform, and a day before the interview, we were given free roam access to get familiar with the platform. The interviews were conducted in the time frame of 2nd March to 6th March with a morning and an afternoon slot. My interview was on the 4th March morning slot and I was assigned panel number 1. The panel allotment was based on your Undergraduate degree and mine was related to chemistry thus all candidates in panel 1 had this in common. Document verification and interviews were run parallelly. My document verification was first and thus my interview was last. Throughout the whole process, the admissions team was there to guide and clear all doubts of the candidates.

Interview Experience At SJMSOM

The only thing that came to mind when I thought about IIT Bombay was technical because the word itself involves technology. SJMSOM had the most unique platform, GATHER, which was similar to the miniclip games we used to play as kids as we all had to conduct our interviews online. When the interview began, the coordinator played the MR. Bean animation, and the professor asked me about my state politics and what one should do to get their staff to listen to them. After that, he asked me about my personality and gave me the opportunity to give an example of my greatest strength. The second panellist, an SJMSOM alum, asked me about work experience-related questions. and finally, the professor asked a brief round of general knowledge questions, but overall, it was the best interview of the B-school.

I had my interview on 04 March 2022 8 AM. I received the interview details a week prior to the interview and interview link a day prior. SJMSOM interview was one of the most well organized interview I had. The Admission Committee was well prepared for the process.

I am a Mechanical Engineer with 20 months’ work experience. As a core engineer with a CAT percentile of 98.97 and academics of (90, 84,85) I was well aware that SJMSOM would be one of my best calls. I received the call for an interview on the 16th of February 2022. The mail also stated that the interview would be done over the Gather platform so I was quite curious about it.

Interview Experience At SJMSOM, IIT Bombay

IIT Bombay. A dream for many. A reality for some. After scoring 98.99 percentile in CAT 2021, I sat ready for my interview with SJMSOM on 6th March 2022. As the interview process was virtual for our batch, it took place on a platform called Gather. It was an amazing experience as before the interview, I was able to virtually move around the SJMSOM campus and interact with people just like I would have in person.
