Learn How To Minimise Rejections In Sales

Learn How To Minimise Rejections In Sales

You are out on a date with a wonderful person and you think that it’s going well. Your partner is laughing at your jokes and the meal is great too! Until, mid-meal your partner gets a call from a friend/family member saying there’s an emergency and your partner must leave. Apparently, the “going well” was just in your head.

IIM Indore, SPJIMR, SCMHRD, MICA, K.J.Somaiya Are India's Most Gender Diverse Business Schools - Class of 2017-19

About 5 years back top business schools in India suddenly woke up to the fact that the gender diversity ratio in their graduating batches was quite poor. It was extremely rare to find more than 25% women in most of the top IIMs. However, things have taken a turn for the better and the number of women graduating not just from IIMs but schools across the board now is in thousands. While women representation in C-Suite and pay disparity at the top levels are issues which will still take many more years to be solved, we can celebrate the increase in number of women managers at the entry level in India. We should be hopeful and the IIMs and other top schools have done their bit.

When E.L.I.T.E. Met Pinnacle - Capgemini

When E.L.I.T.E. Met Pinnacle - Capgemini

I have almost always managed to just make it seem like I am fairly comfortable when put on a stage. I go through whatever I have to say at a decent pace, I remain concise and am good at expressing ideas. I might stumble in my speech somewhere down the line, but I’ll regain the “flow”. So when Minita complimented me for all the above-mentioned features after my short 2-minute introductory speech, I didn’t find it surprising. As it turned out, she was saving the surprise for the latter part of the feedback. I look more like a mannequin than a living and breathing human being when I’m on stage; I barely move. I don’t know what to do with my hands; when I am on stage, they become stiff. I could crack the best joke ever (not that I can!) and yet barely smile myself. Now that was some surprise! And so, the Pinnacle Intent-based Communication Training, which was supposed to boost our confidence in public speaking, kicked-off by dragging it down. This probably was one great thing about the training. Why was it great? Because I believe acknowledgement of your flaws is a pre-requisite for any attempt to improve yourself.

You Never Walk Alone At The B-School

You Never Walk Alone At The B-School

It’s the oldest story in the world. One day we wake up and plan for someday. And through the highs and lows that mark time between that day and now, that someday is today, right now, in whatever B-School destiny and you collaborated to get you to. And now that you’re here, away from your comfort zone, it’s possible that you don’t immediately fall in love with it. Maybe it’s a lot like your world, because you’re from the same state. Or, maybe it’s nothing like it, and you witness cultural differences and compare them to what you’ve seen in movies. But, if you really pay attention, you might see people who are actually a lot like you. People who are trying to make sense of this world, who are getting stuck at dead-ends too, who are trying to understand what they want from themselves. All this while, when you thought that you’re the one the universe is conspiring against, these people also nod sleepily in certain lectures, or get as frustrated as you do at something they’re barely getting through, and have a strength that doesn’t always substitute yours; Your peer group was right in front of you all this time telling you that the feeling is a lie.

Journey after completing MBA...is it a bed of roses or a new expedition altogether? How is life working inside the air-conditioned glass walls of a corporate office, amidst the client calls, striding in the business suits? At some point in their journey, every MBA aspirant faces these questions. To get insights from the life of a management graduate, I interviewed Ms. Reena Damani.
