Final Placements : IIM Bangalore - Class of 2015

Final Placements : IIM Bangalore - Class of 2015

You would think the premier schools of India will lead the way in what can be described as a super hit placement season across campuses. IIM Bangalore's placement season only strengthens that belief. As has been the trend for this batch everywhere, E-Commerce is the sector firing on all cylinders. Amazon and Snapdeal made 17 offers each. Similarly, the private equity and venture capital scene at IIM Bangalore seems to be up again (It could also just be that they are revealing more names this year. Either way it looks good). The Consulting domain has snapped up a whopping 30% of the batch with the biggest names in the business all being there. Banking and Finance though half the size of Consulting still outshines Sales & Marketing. Another remarkable statistic is that 60% of the batch had a PPO or a Lateral Job offer in hand before the placement season began. Nearly 33% of the batch bagged PPOs in a batch of 400 odd. It is more than the batch size of a few schools like JBIMS!

Indian Startup Ecosystem – Still a long way from Silicon Valley

Indian Startup Ecosystem – Still a long way from Silicon Valley

Mr. Greg Chappel, once coach of the Indian cricket team, said India lacked leaders because from an early age our parents make all the decisions for us, then it’s our schoolteachers and later in life we become so used to this idea that we always look at others to make decisions for us. This is one of the many problems the young restless entrepreneurial generation of ours is facing. We are expected to follow tradition, follow in the footsteps our elderly and travel the safe path. The good news is many among us are finally succeeding in breaking these chains and follow their heart and their passion.

Technology: Competition's Ally or Enemy?

Technology: Competition's Ally or Enemy?

Charles Darwin had said that only the fittest will be able survive in this world. The question is who is the fittest. If we consider competition among human beings themselves, the meaning of "fittest" has changed multiple times. In prehistoric times men with supreme physical strength used to be the fittest. Coming closer this notion of physical strength has given away to the notion of possession of intelligence and resources. Resources which make a person/country superior to its counter parts. Technology today has a big part to play in the same. But is it required? Is it desirable? Like everything it has its pros and cons.

Digital Media, Pop Culture and why it’s the best time to be in Marketing!

It’s crazy how quickly we pick up things and make it a part of our lingo, and sometimes our lives. Take the ‘mauka mauka’ commercials for example. We cannot watch a cricket match without them.  They’re hilarious. I can’t write this without humming ‘mauka mauka’ and I bet neither can you read this is without humming ‘mauka mauka’. Stupid isn’t it? We enjoy it nevertheless.
