The Citi Woman Leader Award or CWLA is a Citi Bank endeavour to recognise and respect aspiring women leaders of tomorrow. Every year Citi invites applications from first year female students pursuing management program in premier business schools of the country. These applicants then go through a psychometric test in which it helps to base one's answers on the company's core values. The cumulative test scores and academic profile scores determine who are to be shortlisted for the next round, the campus round telephonic interview. This interview is taken by an institute alumnus and an HR executive.
SGGSC scholarships are given to meritorious students who have a limited family income. The scholarship provides for a complete tuition waiver which comprises the maximum component of the fees of a management program. With so much benefit being provided, there is always the need to identify the right set of candidates who are most deserving of the same.
Living 2 years of my life at an IIM is what I had always dreamt of, and this wish converted into a reality when I received the conversion email from Indian Institute of Management, Nagpur. It has been 2 months since I have been at this place but I can assure you that being a non-engineering student at any b-school is a different experience altogether. If you are from commerce background, you have basic knowledge about almost all the subjects taught at a b-school. This helps you in grasping the subject better. When the professor would utter words like “working capital” and “contribution” you will just look around, observe the bewildered faces of your classmates, and sit back peacefully.
Every year thousands of candidates are shortlisted to be interviewed by the IIMs but only 20-30% of them succeed in converting their IIM calls. According to a professor in IIM Kozhikode, on an average only one candidate gets selected in a day per panel. Naturally, the interviewee must be prepared to shine out among all other aspirants interviewed by the same panel. But how to prepare oneself for the same? What exactly are the panelists looking for, is the question that bothers every interviewee. A couple of candid conversations with the professors of IIM Kozhikode, helped generate some insights which hopefully would bring some clarity on this.
E-Cell and JAM (Juices and More) were set up together 6 years ago in IIM Indore. Since then it has been handed down to E-Cell members as a gift to use the profits for funding their activities and make E-Cell a financially independent body. JAM is at the center of the ever bustling life at IIM Indore with many club activities, events and bonfire nights taking place in its porch area. JAM has always been supported by the professors, who repeatedly use it as a case study in Finance and Operations classes.
Students and faculty of Institute of Management and Technology (IMT) Hyderabad, not just participated in the Hyderabad Marathon 2016 but they ran together and completed the full marathon, half marathon and 10 KM runs, within the stipulated time limit. A total of 112 participants including, students and 13 faculty members of IMT Hyderabad ran in the 6th edition of Marathon organised by The Hyderabad Runners Society and Bharti Airtel together with Telangana government. Prof. Nikhil Rastogi ran full 42 KMs, while Prof. Kalyan Chajerla ran half marathon and while rest of the faculties ran the 10 KM stretch.
Leaders who inspire, have an innate ability to get things done, with the least resistance. Dealing with people can teach you, powerful lessons in persuasion! This is even more so, when you interact with people across multiple cultures, races, descent and nationalities.
