Our today's feature - Niloy Mukherjee, used this power to change the life of a boy who had hearing-impaired parents and was brought up in a shelter home. The boy wanted to study but was scared of math. Niloy was a guide, teacher and friend to him. He not only helped the boy with the fearful mathematics but also gave him the confidence to do well in the senior secondary exams. Niloy's need to help others and keenness on taking responsibilities got him placed in InsideIIM's Best 50! For IIM Indore student Ipsita Manna and SIBM Pune student Udit Khorwal, the work from a home internship with Tata Steel news came as a pretty disheartening one. Ipsita, being an ardent lover of how a legacy brand like Tata Steel operates, was keen on going to Jamshedpur to see the grand factories with her own eyes, and do her internship in operations and supply chain there. But with the lockdown, everything changed for these interns. How difficult was it actually for the supply chain and operations interns to continue working on their respective projects, keeping in mind that they wouldn’t be able to meet any stakeholders involved? This and a lot more on how these interns handled their work from home internship projects in the supply chain and operations domain in today’s episode of the Tata Steel Summer Internship series.
So, you slogged through torturous graduation years to land up on the much-needed job and had a moment of contentment. Soon enough, you start slogging through the office as well and realise that this is not the scene you imagined or wanted at all. A lot of us feel stuck with our current job profiles and it seems almost impossible to somehow shift to a more interesting role. You may try applying to such roles through online platforms but that takes you to another level of realisation. A single reply after showing interest in a thousand openings and interview calls are as scarce as a pink rhinoceros. Let alone the selection process in which you hardly stand a chance against people having some background. Then your career baba friend tells you to go for an MBA to get rid of all your miseries. But still a doubt rings in your head, “how exactly am I going to rub away my past and have a rebirth in the B-School?”.
Clearing CAT is a different journey, and clearing the interviews is a different hurdle all together! My best call was IIM Calcutta; I was happy for about 10mins after I got the mail for an interview. Nightmares started again; I don't have anything special for them to select me. I'm a fresher, definitely no chance of choosing me. I met a few people during preparing for interviews; we used to practice together, take mock interviews.
