It was pure serendipity being selected into the inaugural E.L.I.T.E. General Management program but little did I know that as I jump from the velvet comforts of life at a b-school campus, the 5-week on-boarding experience at Capgemini would be even more enthralling.

The MBA entrance exam season is on the brink of getting started. A number of candidates will be fine-tuning their preparation right now, whilst there will be others who would be struggling to kick the inertia out of their systems and start their preparation. Those who fall in the latter group do not let the lazy voice within u tell you, “Be Practical, It’s Too Late”. Run away from those who spread negativity. You may come across acquaintances who may say, “I’m preparing for last one year and it’s not working for me” or “These exams are really difficult to crack, it’s not our cup of tea”. Remember these are the people who don’t plan realistically or have laid-back attitude. The basic syllabus for these exams is roughly the same as Mathematics and English taught in the class VII-X. So, ideally, if your fundamentals are in place then it should take roughly 250 hours of preparation which means just 5 hours for 50 days or 3 hours for some 85 odd days i.e. max 3 months. But you need to be very focused in these 3 months and practice religiously. Also, you need not run after solving more and more questions but rather focus on solving different varieties of questions and remember the method used to solve these questions. There is a need to master the art of solving questions using shortcut techniques.

However, on this particular Saturday Morning, it was the venue for a unique event and the second offline workshop that InsideIIM - Konversations held for all MBA Aspirants. Rockstars from Colgate, Vodafone, Moet Hennessy and InsideIIM enthralled aspirants with stories from their life, campus and their work.
A wise man once said there is only one way to lead a fulfilled professional life, “Find out what you like doing best and get paid for doing it.” Hence one of the most important decisions a student has to take is making the right career choice. It will not only determine how passionate he will be towards his work but also eventually challenge the status quo in order to gain excellence. To help students explore Operations as a function, Marico organised an Operations Bootcamp - a workshop aimed at building students’ perspective towards what they can expect when they select a career path in operations of an FMCG firm. The Bootcamp provided a one of its kind experience for the students in terms of knowledge sharing and a platform for an interaction with Marico’s luminaries, such as the Chief Supply Chain Officer.
Reading comprehension (RC) is an important component of CAT. What is even more interesting is that it is the only part of the exam for which you don’t need to mug any formula, memorise any data or learn any rules. Everything is right in front of you and all you have to do is to extract the answers from the passage itself! Hence RC is a weapon that is a must-have in your arsenal for cracking CAT.
“Oh, you are a fresher? You would surely get shortlisted for all FMCGs!”
25th June’17 – In a brightly lit auditorium, one of the most professional groups of individuals introduced themselves to the whole new bunch of first years brimming with curiosity. Thus, the Toastmasters IIM Ranchi made their first public appearance during the induction program. A brief presentation by them and two open to the floor table topics later, I made up my mind to join this club. Chartered on 30th October’13, this independent body has made its mark in the hall of fame of District 41 – the Distinguished Club Award in 2014-15 and the Fantastic Five Award in 2016.
