I’m sure, now that the date of CAT 2017 is out, the race to the finish line has already begun. Everyone has started gearing up for the D-Day. All sleeping beauties have been suddenly jolted out from their stupor as they realised that preparation time now has started its own countdown. Did this happen with me? Yes, it definitely did. Was I successful in getting calls? No, I wasn’t. Then how did I get to IIM Indore?
No matter how long it takes, no matter how many times you fail, few things in life are worth the wait. The wait ended for us a few days back when we stepped into IIM Rohtak.
We have the results for Summer Saga 2017, our annual internship experience sharing competition!
17th June 2017, a normal day at the office I was on a treadmill to shed the extra kilos which came as a byproduct of preparation when after getting down from treadmill I noticed a mail from IIM Visakhapatnam congratulating me for clearing the admission process. As soon as I saw the email I knew that it was going to be a tough decision. I had already made up my mind for CAT next year but went ahead with Visakhapatnam interview to gain some experience.
Hereby, I present my journey to MBA (It is the journey that matters and not the destination). I believe that this journey to secure an MBA Admit in itself imbibes various skills into candidates needed for the program.
My story did not begin when I started my computer engineering course from NSIT, New Delhi, but when I was in school. I had chosen the stream of science with economics in class XI for I had an analytical mind and was fascinated with economics (I am not going to lie, one major factor that drove me to this decision was the fact that this stream opened most doors for a career path in the future). I was determined to pursue B.A. Hons. (Economics) after passing school. Unfortunately for me, I missed the cut off for St. Stephens, my dream college by 3 marks. By that time I had successfully secured admission in the computer science branch of NSIT, which for people who don’t know, is a dream case scenario for many or the answer to some IIT rejects.
How often does it happen that a particular target that we have set for ourselves seems to be the only thing worth sacrificing everything for? To thousands of graduates in our country, CAT is that big target that we want to conquer. Notionally, that seems to be true. Because, once belled, CAT will fetch you a seat in a coveted IIM and give you a chance to brag in front of your “not so smart” peers. A seat in IIM Indore instilled emotions of joy, satisfaction and relief in me, at least for the first few days, after which the mist began to get clear.
