When I came to b-school, I was clueless of what sector I wanted to venture out into. Everyone said that the summer internship was the time to experiment and explore, and so I chose to intern with Operations as it was the exact opposite of sitting at a desk in front of the laptop (summarising 4 years of my work experience).
XLRI and TISS are known for their Human Resource Management courses. The general perception is that XLRI is a management-oriented institute while TISS is a humanities-oriented institute. There’s no doubt that both the institutes have produced excellent professionals in this field.
15 years of school in Joka made it my second home during childhood. Going to and coming home from school every day gave me a glimpse of the hallowed gates of IIM Calcutta just across the road. Even the bus conductors shouted ‘Management! Management!’ to contest for passengers; such is this institution’s aura! One thing became clear right then – my choice of b-school would be easy if I ever looked for an MBA.

I was lucky enough to get through the day-long selection process that ABG does on very few prestigious campuses across the co untry.
I have wondered at times what were the motivations behind the adoption of the number 0. What was going through the minds of the mathematicians in ancient India, when they were cooped up around a cup of masala chai (or maybe sura) in their hutments when someone came up with the brilliant idea of an entity that was to revolutionize the world. I wonder what was their interpretation of the number, a self-contained entity that means nothing by itself but does wonders when placed with other integers.
Howdy MBA students!
The 90s kids seem to have found a new problem to be worried about. They are not worried about buying their first house or accrual of large savings. The question on all their minds is “When will I be able to shop without having to look at the price tag?”. More than just being a problem, it is now also the metric of success and the place we think if we reach, new would have achieved it all in our lives. Think about the many times you may have thought about this while at a store filled with your favourites!
