9th January 2017 was the day when they declared CAT-2016 results. I had scored 99.04 percentile. Never did I know that this will play little role in getting me a top college. Some institutes gives the CAT score a 40% weight while others had it at 30%, my parents, on the other hand, gave it 100%. Loud they went on to send messages on WhatsApp “OUR SON HAS SCORED 99.04%ILE. [WE ARE] PROUD OF HIM”. Little did they know that dreams were about to be shattered. IIM A, B or C seemed a distant dream and I had to reset my goals towards IIM Indore and Shillong.

From Samsung To DoMS IIT Roorkee: A Beautiful Journey – Richa Gupta’s Story
Today, when I look back at my life, the past 8 years has been really a blessing. It all started with getting into one of the most prestigious engineering college in India, NIT Raipur. With good knowledge of Computer Science, I got an on-campus placement in Samsung Electronics, which took me to another level. While working with Samsung, the four business trips to the USA and South Korea, made it a modern-day dream-job. After having 3 enriching years of experience at Samsung, I felt the need to know more about Business and how all the pieces (Product/Service, Finance, Marketing, Operations, IT, R&D, HR) fall into place to make it BIG! The same year I gave CAT Examination and was lucky enough to get into one of the prestigious Management Institute (MHRD ranked 8th of all Management Institute in India in 2017) Department of Management Studies, IIT Roorkee.

However, it is true to a certain level but anybody can score better here as the syllabus is limited to X std. Now, you may think then why aspirants think that this section is difficult for them?
