How To Prepare For An NMAT Retake

How To Prepare For An NMAT Retake

One of the best features of NMAT is that it allows you multiple attempts - you can give the exam up to three times in a particular year. This means that you get to give it your best shot. The college of your dreams is not determined by that one day. Now, your attempts are roughly three weeks to a month apart. It is critical that you use this time wisely so that with every attempt your score gets better. I would strongly advise everyone to give a minimum of two attempts. No matter how high your score is in your first attempt, there’s always the chance that you can score higher in the second attempt and thus have a better chance of getting into the college of your choice. If you don’t clear the cut-off, it is important not to get demotivated and remember that you have another chance.

A Complete Guide On Mock Test Analysis By An IIM Alumna

Attempting a Mock CAT is pretty much like having the courage to put yourself in front of a mirror that shows you the ugliest parts of you in the backdrop of your hearts’ greatest wish for the moment. Sixty times (and I'm not saying that's the ideal number)  I put myself out there, and around fifty times I was shattered and almost gave up. You see, there I was studying for hours, covering topics, working out problem after problem but somehow those 180 minutes got the better of me. That in turn made it very difficult for me to analyse what went wrong. My fragile ego would squirm at the thought of witnessing the tragic combination of silly mistakes and desperate guesses interspersed between should-have-beens.

NMAT 2018 Analysis By IMS Experts

Overview NMAT 2018 on the first day was similar to previous year's exam in terms of its structure. However, there were some differences in the topic-wise composition of the sections. According to the students who took the test on the first day, (October 4, 2018) the level of difficulty of the sections was more or less similar to that in the previous years. Continuing with NMAT tradition, half of Data Interpretation sets were significantly calculation intensive. Students also reported that there were differences in the question-sets for different candidates.

NMAT 2018 - A Comprehensive Analysis

NMAT 2018 (Day 1, Slot 1 - 4 Oct, 9 a.m.) mostly stuck to a predictable pattern. There was hardly any surprise. Question wise, the paper was very similar to CL mock papers. There were three sections with no negative marking. A student had the choice of deciding the sequence of sections. There were no technical glitches and the experience was quite pleasant. Compared to last year, the one major change in the Language Skills section was the fewer number of vocabulary questions. There were only three very easy vocabulary questions. The number of analogy questions increased a bit. The Reading Comprehension passages were lengthy and even the options were tedious to read.

How To Perform Well In All Three Sections Of NMAT

When it comes to the entrance test season, for most of the serious aspirants, NMAT is the first exam that they take. The key to performing well at the NMAT lies in maintaining the fine balance between aggression (considering that there would be opportunities in case there is a drop in performance) and complacency (considering that one has multiple shots at the test). While on one hand, it is an out and out speed test, on the other hand, the margin for error is so less that even a 10-minute drop in intensity is enough to bring you down from a 210+ score to a 190-odd.
