SCMS Cochin School of Business will hold a two-day training program cum workshop on Retail Store Management and Visual Merchandising. Themed “Empowering Store Managers for Retail Excellence”, the workshop to be held on the institute’s state of the art campus on the 2nd and 3rd May promises to have a lot in “store” for practically everyone related to and interested in the retail industry. Facilitated and helmed by experts in the field, the workshop will be an attempt to decode the tricks and traits of successful Retail Management.
The Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT) held its 50th Convocation (Golden Jubilee) on 19th April, 2016, at New Delhi. 9 students were conferred with Ph.D awards and 319 students received MBA degree in International Business. Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman, Minister of Commerce & Industry, Government of India was the Chief Guest, and Ms. Rita Teaotia, Chairman, IIFT and Secretary, Department of Commerce, Government of India, presided over the function.
The Indian Institute of Management Raipur celebrated its 5th Annual Convocation on April 18, 2016 amid an aura of pride and joy. The Chief Guest - Smt. Smriti Zubin Irani, Hon'ble Minister of Human Resource Development, Government of India and the Guests of Honour - Dr. Raman Singh, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh; and Smt. Shyamala Gopinath, Chairperson, BOG, IIM Raipur and Prof. B.S. Sahay, Director IIM Raipur were present at the ceremony.
“The right of residence is complementary with the right of employment in another member state”; this term is specifically associated to the EU nationals and clarified by the European Commission. This particular statement however doesn’t extend up-to the U.S. citizens who’re usually known as non-EU nationals.
Soon after gaining freedom from the UK in 1981, Antigua and Barbuda have emerged on the world map as an independent state in the Eastern Caribbean. Later it becomes a respectable member of a few reputed organizations like the United Nations (UN), Organisation of American States (OAS) and the British Commonwealth, CARICOM. The twin-island state implemented a British style parliamentary system to establish its government. Similar to other countries of this region, the economy is primarily based on tourism and travel related services. Almost 60% of total GDP is produced from the tourism industry. Besides this, finance is another major sector in this territory. To further improve its infrastructure and debts to support the local economy, the state government took a very bold decision to sell citizenship to foreign nationals in 2012. Their residency program welcomes everyone, who is willing to become a legal citizen after making monetary investments in government and real estate sectors. Interested candidates may apply a full lifetime citizenship and second passport for their family members too.
IIM Visakhapatnam, in association with Andhra bank organised its first Entrepreneurship Conclave, Exordia’16. In line with the theme, ‘India’s boost to Entrepreneurship’; the conclave gave the right impetus to kick start entrepreneurial spirit in the city. Entrepreneurs from the city presented their ideas before experts from NSRCEL, IIM Bangalore at IIM Visakhapatnam. The event had a panel of distinguished speakers coming from industry, government and academia, giving valuable insights about entrepreneurship. The common thought that came out from all the speakers was that entrepreneurs should focus on addressing local problems. They also emphasized on the importance of learnings that failures can provide. ‘The entrepreneurs challenge the status quo as they see a problem as an opportunity’ is the key take away from the talks. But coming to India, enough efforts were not put to do any disruptive innovation, and most of entrepreneurs think in a global perspective rather than starting with solving local problems. These behaviours slow down the process of building up entrepreneurial strength of the country. Prof. Suresh Bhagavatula, Chairperson of Entrepreneurial Ecosystem Development at the NSRCEL of IIM Bangalore, Mr. Nagaraja Prakasam, Founder Chairman of Native Angels network, Ms. Wilma Rodrigues, Founder member at Sahaas Organization represented Academia while Mr Shiv Kumar, CEO of Maple Software and Ms. Malini Gowrishankar, Founder of F5 Escapes spoke about the industry and the opportunities that come along with the failures in it. Ms. Sumita Dawra, Principal Secretary, Higher Education, State of Andhra Pradesh, Ms. Vijayalakshmi, DGM, Andhra Bank and Mr. Amit Garg, Commissioner of Police spoke about the role of government in promoting entrepreneurship. The Conclave was attended by University and College students and budding entrepreneurs from across the city. The event was closed on a high note saying that India has a very high potential yet to be tapped.

He performed Allah Hoo & Allah Hi Rahem (My Name is Khan) in the grand finale at Kingdom of Dreams, Gurgaon NCR Delhi on 30th March, 2016. After Acoustics – The Country Rockers from D. Y. Patil College and Divyansh Gupta from NMIMS Mumbai were the 1st runner up & 2nd runner up respectively.
