IIM Shillong Hosts The Fourth Edition Of Melange

The fourth edition of Melange, the annual alumni meet of IIM Shillong, was conducted by the Alumni Committee on February 6th. Since the previous edition of the event was held in Delhi, a trip down south to Bangalore was the unanimous choice for the organizers. With a majority of the alumni being based out of Bangalore, the decision was easier to make.

The participants of IIM Indore Mumbai Campus had with them Mr. Vikrant Mahajan, Marketing & Sales Manager at Schlumberger on Friday, 4th March 2016 to interact on the topic "Marketing and Sales essentials". He began by talking about the basic difference of sales and marketing. Marketing is all about creating customer satisfaction and providing input to the R&D department whereas Sales focuses on the product in hand and its benefits, providing input to the marketing team. Mr. Vikrant talked about the factors influencing buying strategy of the consumers. The buyers’ reading strategy includes awareness, liking, knowledge, preference, conviction and purchase. This helps us in understanding why consumers buy any product. He then divided the session into marketing and sales.

Mr. Jain was with the participants of IIM Indore, PGP Mumbai on Sunday, 6th March to interact on the topic “Digital Transformation, Marketing & Cross functional style of Management in Banking Sector”. He has over 20 years of experience in Consumer Banking across a wide variety of roles from sales & distribution to product & marketing as well as a stint in venture capital in India. As part of the Senior Leadership Team, he played several roles as India Head - Product Management, Chief Administrative Officer and Business Head for TASC Business Group. Prior to this, Mr. Jain has worked with HSBC, Bank of America and Terrafirma Realty (Venture Capital Fund).

Placement report 2014-16, FORE School of Management, New Delhi.

The final placement report for batches 2014-16, at FORE School of Management witnessed highest domestic CTC of INR 21 lacs per annum and average CTC of INR 9 lacs per annum for the 213 students from PGDM and PGDM International Business. The placement figures revealed a higher median CTC and multiple job offers for the students. Apart from the traditional recruiters from FMCG, IT/ITeS, Manufacturing, Banking and Consulting domains, there has been e-commerce, Unicorns and tech start-ups recruiting from the campus.
