I am a Computer Engineering Graduate from a respectable institute in India. Like most engineering students, I was placed in an IT firm through the college placement process. On completing two good years with the company, I decided to switch my domain and pursue MBA. Surprised that almost all MBA colleges give extra credit to work experience, I was under the impression that work experience plays an important role in the MBA program. This trend is mostly because people feel that a prior industry exposure would act as a catalyst during the MBA course.
Now that the CAT is over, a lot must be going through each person’s mind – what would he/she have scored, whether the score will fetch the desired percentile which will land one on the hallowed grounds of IIM or not. While it is normal to be anxious about the results , there is little one can do now except contemplate.
For all the disappointed souls out there post the CAT exam, it’s time to let go of your frustrations and start focusing on XAT. Life always gives you second chances and XAT is that one chance available every year to all the b-school aspirants. Top b-schools like XLRI, SPJIMR, XIMB, IMT, TAPMI, GIM, etc. take candidates using XAT score. It is a 3.5 hours exam, scheduled to be held online on the 6th of January.
SNAP, for the first time in its history, went online this year. The exam was conducted on 17th December, Sunday. The exam pulled an IIFT all over again! The SNAP paper this year was completely different from any of its earlier avatars. The types of questions differed significantly from the last few years. Overall, the paper was more difficult as compared to that of last year. The paper had a total of 4 sections – General English, Quantitative Ability, Current Affairs and Analytical & Logical Reasoning in the paper with 40, 40, 30 and 40 questions in each section respectively. The sections were jumbled up. There was 1 mark given for each correct answer and 0.25 marks penalty for each incorrect answer. The total time given for the paper was 120 minutes.
Meet Richpal Choudhary who lives in Rajasthan but was born and raised in Gujarat (Vadodara). He completed his graduation in B.com from Maharaja Sayajirao University of Vadodara in 2016. After completing his graduation he started preparing for Competitive exams and the preparation phase lasted around 12 months after which he scored 98.75 percentile in SNAP. He says scoring high is a difficult task but if it is done with proper planning and smart work, it is achievable.
It is always advisable to decide your masters once you have a taste of the corporate culture and get exposed to the routine of stringent deadlines, multiple clients all at the same time. The hectic long hour shifts during the busy season of the organisation is another dimension that adds to your personality and makes you more competent to handle stress while delivering exceptional client service.
