When we join a b-school, the first milestone is to secure an internship. The entire process is daunting since we are just a few months into the curriculum and we are expected to sit through interviews and processes equivalent to a job interview. I faced a similar situation in my internship experience.
Ask any student what is the first thing that comes to his mind when he comes across the word ‘summer’, and the usual reply would be - vacation, holidays, enjoyment and likewise.
It began with an interview question of what my favourite Britannia brand was and my startling response of - Marie. I went on to elucidate why Marie works best in East India, my home ground. It ended with me questioning the MD’s strategy I read of. A questioning mind will lead you to answers and this time it led me to a life altering internship experience at one of India’s oldest FMCG. (Imagine the pride of an intern when your Salesman says “Humne India ka pehla bread becha”. Britannia pioneered the sliced bread industry in 1954)

Company Overview:
Two days of orientation completed at one of the most renowned, yet mystical firms in the world. We were taught everything, from the much-celebrated McKinsey way of problem-solving (MECE anyone?!), handling tough client conversations and the charismatic ways in which the firm defends its values. In the same breath, we also dealt with more mundane matters such as pre-loaded PPT templates and Excel (life-savers, as we’d like to christen them!)
