Share Your Internship Experiences And Win Prizes Worth Rs 60,000 - Summer Saga 2019
Hello Class of 2020,
Hello Class of 2020,
I had my interview with Morgan Stanley for their Summer Internship program on 14th September 2018. Morgan Stanley was hiring for their Mumbai office for the role of Quantitative Model Auditor. The role was for their Internal Audit Department.
Summer Internship is like a typical Hindi drama movie with two major differences:-
When I landed an Internship offer from Stellar Value Chain Solutions in early April 2018, I was excited to venture into the city of dreams-Mumbai for this invigorating, yet challenging opportunity. On the first day of my internship, I was introduced to the founder of the company, VP-Process Excellence and Solution Design Team members for a briefing of my deliverables. To gain a better understanding of the flow of information and material throughout the Supply Chain, I visited the warehouse situated at Uran in the outskirts of Mumbai. The problems related to uncertainty and variability in demand were clearly apparent along the way. Taking the entrepreneurial path, I decided to visit some of the efficient warehouses, to take in the best practices and strategize on improving the Supply chain at Stellar Value. Combining my prior experience with the classroom learning at IIM Udaipur, I inculcated a series of regressions, number crunching, and statistics in parallel to heuristic ways to improve the productivity and streamline operations. Backed by numbers and reasoning, I was able to do justice to my learning and propose solid recommendations to the organizations. In the last few days of my internship, I prepared a plan for Warehouse Inventory keeping and defined a streamlined work breakdown structure and warehouse processes.
Imagine this scene: it is pouring cats and dogs outside. The class is divided into the pahari folks who just cannot fathom how many clouds it takes to make this much rain; and the coastal babies who feel quite joyful looking at the rain. You are also just coming to terms with how many subjects you have (in the third week you may be surprised at some professor walk in and then realise that he takes a class for you that you have forgotten about!)
With the first stint of fieldwork ending for the first semester students of HRM & LR at TISS Mumbai, there cannot be better time to have a dear diary moment and talk about my first ever experience in the corporate way of life with Larsen and Toubro Infotech (LTI) here in Mumbai. As a fresher, every student has fancy about their first day at a new job: a straight entry gate into the gate of the adult life. As is obvious, mine was no different. Mondays and Tuesdays were now booked for the purpose of fieldwork every week, and I had a dual identity of a student and a professional (also literally so since I had an organisational and TISS ID card!)
“I believe that every minute of our life experience prepares us for the next, although we’re usually not able to recognize how the current experience fits into the larger picture.”
