#ABGLPWooMe – The Indian Sun That Touches All Lives | Vishnu Aduru, IIM Trichy

In the average Indian household or even among the urban illiterates the name Aditya Birla Group, often known as the Birla Group rings a bell. They associate the name with a far-flung business empire with presence in almost industry. They are not very wrong, since this is wisdom passed down to them for several generations now. A US $44.3 billion corporation, today the Aditya Birla Group is active in 14 industry sectors and has achieved global and national leadership in several businesses.

It’s the final thirty seconds of your fight, your lungs are gasping for air, you can’t take the mental toll anymore, but you also know that these thirty seconds stand between you and that moment of glory. It’s at this moment where you conjure up all your strength, remember all the times you trained hard in the practice sessions and why you are standing where you are in the first place. This was just a metaphorical representation of what life could be like at moments, all the odds stacked against you to perform, but you still do, somehow anyway. Having tried to excel in all kinds of activities from a very young age, be it academics, extracurricular activities or just being the best football player on a field of 22, I realized pretty early on that all of these things didn’t come to me naturally. I wasn’t like some of the guys who were physically well built to play a sport or like some girls who had exceptional IQs to excel in a certain subject, but what I did have was the burning desire to be the best and do the best in whichever field I got into. To provide fuel to this fire, I just had one thing under my control and that was the amount of work I put in to achieve my goals, the amount of hours I put in practicing and the amount of sacrifices that I make. My only three ambitions in life thus far have been to represent my country on an international level, which I did manage to do in the field of Karate despite not having the physique of a Greek God. Second, I always wanted to excel in at least one subject and through my regular hours of practice, I did end up topping a lot of subjects at college, and eventually now I find myself at the hallowed portals of IIM Trichy. The last ambition that I had was to excel in the field of music, which I did by winning many accolades at college level and even at other independent competitions. The bottom line remains the same throughout, when talent doesn’t work hard, hard work beats talent, and that’s been the story of my life thus far.

Eleanor Roosevelt once said, and I quote, “The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams”. A well-suited quote for Aditya Birla Group whose roots dates back to the pre-independence era and today stands as a proud Indian multinational conglomerate with its presence in 42 countries. The farsightedness and business acumen of the ABG group resulted in group companies becoming a silent partner of billions of people across the globe in every walk of life. Be it fashion needs to ethnic clothing to cellular needs to help to build homes to financial services, ABG companies are at your disposal now and then. ABG group has no doubt unprecedentedly strengthened independent India’s economy, infrastructure and bolstered India’s global footprint.

Aditya Birla Group - The Front Runners In Leadership And Quality | Rahul Sengupta, IIM Trichy

You walk past any construction site in India, you will find cement from Ultratech. You walk through any market in India, you will definitely find yourself looking at clothes from Van Heusen and Louis Philippe. You hear your elders talking about wealth management and availing life insurance, the only name on their lips is Aditya Birla Capital. The one thing in common between all of these ‘brands’ is that they’re all owned by the Aditya Birla Group. In their journey, which started long back in 1857, Aditya Birla Group has become synonymous with perfection and strength. The one obvious question that pops up immediately is “what makes ABG so successful?”. There’s only one simple answer to this and that is vision and execution. An organization as big as ABG cannot get to where it is now without having a visionary leader, someone who is well aware about his social responsibilities as well as how to make a business grow. All ideas in the world will turn fruitless without a structure, a vision and correct execution of the idea. Another thing worth noticing is that the Aditya Birla Group is not just an organization which focusses solely on profits, they are equally aware about their social responsibilities and the fact that they owe a lot to the community as well. They run around 5000 medical camps and 20 hospitals, 56 schools and have even trained over 96,000 people in varying skill sets. The Aditya Birla Group has left an indelible mark on my life, it has shown me what ‘running’ a business should actually look like, shown me how building communities and helping each other is the only way forward and how no organization is complete without the positive intervention of a leader.

Life Without The Aditya Birla Group - Darshil Sanghavi, TAPMI

The Aditya Birla Group, headed by most eminent business figure in the world Mr. Kumar Mangalam Birla is a company without which life of billions would be unimaginable. Imagine a small farmer Mr Arijit waking up in his hut made of UltraTech cement covered with roof sheets supplied by Novelis, comes out to spray insecticide supplied by Grashim Industries talking to his son Basu working in a big city like Mumbai on a Vodafone Idea telecom network. Basu on the other hand drives a car which has alloy wheels and rubber part coming out of one of the ABG group factory, wearing a Peter England Suit with a shopping bag full of Pantaloons and Forever 21 goodies for his family,  tries to convince his dad that he wants to buy a Birla Sun life insurance policy for him.

Aditya Birla Group a $44.3 billion corporation with its wings spread wide across 34 countries in 5 continents has touched each one of our lives at some point or the other. I have personally used its products at different points in my life. When I was in my school days around 2010, Idea cellular services started offering their services in our area and I was one of the first customers in our area. They offered premium numbers and attractive tariff rates. Being a student back then, I was heavily wooed by their offerings. They had really cheap tariffs compared to their then competitors and they were improving their network coverage steadily and were responsive to customer feedbacks and complaints. My mother still has this number and is currently using it. As I grew up, pantaloons came up in my city. Pantaloons became my go to destination for all my apparel shopping. Odisha is known to have 13 festivals in 12 months and we shop for new clothes in festive seasons. Pantaloons comes up with offers and discounts for all festive seasons and is a one stop solution for all dressing needs, it had new brands which were previously unheard of in our locality and provided great quality at affordable prices. When I was in under graduation college, I needed formals for the placement activities and ABG came to the rescue with Van Heusen. I still use Van Heusen Shirts for formal occasions because the fit they offer is unparalleled in this sector. Starting from Ultratech Cement used in the foundation of our house to Van Heusen Shirt giving the finishing touch to our dressing, Aditya Birla Group has a noticeable presence in our lives.
