Aditya Birla Group has been an integral part of my life that makes me go down the memory lane whenever I come across Aditya Birla Group products even now. “Taking India to the world”, an apt campaign for a company that consistently lives it. With a global presence in over 36 countries and employees from 42 different nationalities, Aditya Birla Group has truly managed to take India and set it on the global stage. With a massive presence in apparels, chemicals, construction, Insurance and financial services, the Aditya Birla Group has pervasively managed to shape millions of lives through quality products and social initiatives. Despite the massive outreach, and consumer base, the conglomerate has managed to cater personally to every one of its customers, something which I can personally attest to. My father’s lifelong dream of building a house was recently realized. He always says “Build something in your life. It may be small, but it should be your own, and it should be beautiful the way you want it to be”. He has followed this principle to the letter, and adhered to it his whole life. He personally made the plans for the house, and himself selected the materials to be used, one of them being UltraTech Cement, while achieving his lifelong dream. It was one of the most joyous moments of our lives to see him working with the kind of passion and heart he poured into this project. It has been 3 years since the day we had the house-warming, and the house stands tall in the shadow of my father, in the suburbs of Mohali. This was my take on how a simple product of the Aditya Birla Group contributed in such a big way to an extraordinary dream.
A never give up attitude and an optimistic outlook for every situation has always helped me in sailing through the challenges in my life and making the best out of them. Last year in the month of July, I decided to appear for examinations to enroll in any one of the top B-schools in the country. I was also a full time employed individual. The criticality of the projects I was involved and my workaholic nature ensured, I was occupied with work for 12-14 hours every day. The remaining time was spent commuting in the Bangalore traffic, daily chores and sleep. It was very difficult for me to isolate time from my daily schedule to devote for exam preparation. Day by day, the project in my office became critical and my preparation by devoting a certain time was becoming a serious challenge. The weekends were saved for attempting mocks where I was also not performing well. The fire and zeal to secure a seat in a top B-schools and the hope that I will make it was always there. Hence I started micromanaging my daily schedule to boost up my preparation. I utilized the tea and lunch break in my office hours to stay updated of all the current happening around the world and revising the formulas and concept I studied previous night. I utilized the commuting hours in watching concept based videos from the internet. After reaching home, I used to solve question in a timed manner to simulate the exam like environment. There was a gradual improvement in my mock exams which made me confident of my approach and attitude towards preparation. Finally, I was able to crack the written exam and sail through GD and personal interview rounds to make into IIFT, Delhi which was one of my dream colleges to convert. When I look back to my preparation days, it was my never give up attitude and an optimistic outlook that has sailed me through all the challenges to land and secure a seat in IIFT, Delhi, prestigious and best B-school offering an MBA degree in International business.
Being multifaceted is about representing oneself in multiple domains along with having the capability to adapt to every domain one has been into. Aditya Birla Group has always its name resounding in every industry it has entered into. It has forayed into every sector I could relate to in my daily life. It connects me to my near and dear ones through its telecommunications network Vodafone Idea so that I can console myself until the day I go back home from my college. It has had its name resounding within four walls of my house built with its “Ultratech” cement, which has been an epitome of strength since its inception in 2005. Signing up for a SIP in an Aditya Birla Mutual Fund has given me a sense of safety and security of my future. It gives me an assurance of a safer life to my family, even after I leave this world. Formal apparel from Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail Limited brands gives me the confidence to display myself as an individual who could make a difference to an organization. It rejuvenates myself to display a different level of enthusiasm every time I wear them. The Freshwrapp aluminium foil-wrapped food packed by my mother for the journey from my home to college reminds me of her love and affection towards me throughout the semester until I come back home again. With a true sense of belief, Aditya Birla Group has turned out to be an emblem of closeness not only amongst my family members but also in my society.
“Roti, Kapda aur Makaan” one of the many classics of Manoj Kumar is the first thing that comes to everyone’s mind when being asked a question about bare minimum needs for leading a civilized life, depicting the importance of good food, shelter and clothes; and when asked about a single entity that encompasses these necessities, the first thing that comes to mind is the US $44.3 billion conglomerate Aditya Birla Group. ABG has made an impact in each of the areas mentioned above in different phases of my life and in fact, now when I sit back and think, I have started to realize how ABG has touched millions of other lives in one way or the other. They say, a healthy mind resides in a healthy body, and there is no disagreement with it. Never having had to leave home for my education, it was my habit like that of most of the teenagers, that I liked the food served hot right after it was cooked. Since my childhood, I grew up with the same understanding that this practice augmented the taste of the food. When I left home for my first job in 2015, the biggest task was to develop a new habit of eating food which was cooked and packed in the morning. Then I came to know about Freshwrapp, it had a subtle appeal to it. All I knew was that it was an aluminum foil roll with hassle-free packaging to keep your food fresh; precisely “So Convenient, So Economical”. Every time I opened my lunch at my workplace a feeling of freshness filled my senses, needless to say, the food felt as if served hot and fresh. I was born in a village and had spent my childhood and initial days of my youth there. Village people are quite plain in their lifestyle and I was one of them. So, when I got a chance to study in one of the best colleges in my city, I was a bit hesitant regarding the things which were about to be unfolded. I had packed my stack of clothes in a small trunk and almost my entire clan had come to see me off at the station. As the train whistled past them, I could see their eyes filled with love and optimism. I promised myself then and there itself that I’m going to make them proud someday. When I stepped into college, I could see a different set of people altogether, wearing funky clothes and showing off their gadgets. Eventually, I made a few friends but this group too made me a bit conscious of the clothes I would wear. I never wanted to wear those funky clothes but I definitely wanted to carry a bit of class. I was a well-built village guy and possessed knowledge which was at par to the ones present there. I called up my brother and asked for his help to lift my personality. That very day, he took me an Allen Solly store. I picked a pair of chinos and a polo t-shirt and a pair of brown shoes. The following day when I stepped in the campus, I had no hesitations at all in carrying myself. Allen Solly had helped me in filling that void which had always been in me until then. Later, my first suit was of Louis Philippe when I had joined IIFT.
