WED-20 By Envision Cell Celebrating "WORLD ENTREPRENEURS' DAY" At IIM Bodh Gaya.

“Every year, August 21 is calendar marked as the World Entrepreneurs’ Day. The purpose of the World Entrepreneurs’ Day is to create awareness for entrepreneurship, innovation and leadership throughout the world. This is the perfect day to celebrate the people who venture out into the business world with their own ideas and endeavours. WED is the day of founders, managers, producers, contractors, industrialists, innovators, administrators, designers and producers and last but the not least it is the day of  management students around the world who carry the spark of entrepreneurship within them. Our objective to organize WED’20 just as we did last year albeit the virtual platform is to inculcate this very spark in our students here at IIM Bodhgaya as well.

Dilution Of Article 377, Will We See A New Indian Outlook?

Article 377, was a law drafted during the 19th century British rule, which in broad terms, covered a wide range of "Unnatural Sexual activities". Apart from non consensual sex and sex involving minors, the law also outlawed homosexual sex, or sex between individuals of the same gender. Even after India gained its independence in 1947, the law was upheld for decades. In the recent few years, there were many attempts to challenge the law, including challenging of High court verdicts in the Supreme Court, and raising of motions in Parliament to replace the law (aspects covering homosexuality) and decriminalise Homosexuality. However there was a united opposition across many parties including the ruling party, and the motion was defeated. In 2018, in a landmark verdict, the Supreme Court declared that the use of the law to victimise LGBTQ persons was not only unconstitutional, but also violated the basics rules of individual freedom. The sections including consensual same gender sex was decriminalised. 

Scrapping Of Section 377 - A Step In The Right Direction

It is heart-warming to know there are those who are understanding towards people who have been declared guilty because they are different. They were not given a chance to fairly express their opinions and their perspectives. I feel proud that my county in no longer adhering to backward traditions.
