For some, it is a clearly charted course, but for majority of students, it is a self-searching path that leads them to what they love. We spoke to one such students, Bitan Banerjee, who after his engineering found his love for HR and never looked back. These are the excerpts of the interview:
Meet Prashant Kesarwani, a fruit seller's son from Haldwani, Nainital. Prashant graduated with a Bachelor's of Science degree in agriculture. He then realised that management would be a great career option and decided to pursue an MBA. In fact, his CAT prep started during his last year of college! Prashant continued to prep for CAT and managed to score a decent 97%ile in CAT 2019. Currently, a student at IIM Rohtak, Prashant's story will, in equal parts inspire and educate. In this second part of Manishi’s interview, he talks about his early life, from growing up in small-town Uttarakhand, to making it to IIM Ahmedabad. He says that having an English medium education early in life was in fact an advantage, which has helped him throughout his career. Later, for higher education, he had to live by himself in Dehradun. From IIT BHU to L&T, to finally IIM Ahmedabad, Manishi’s journey truly is inspiring and insightful.
For Manavdeep Singh (currently a student of IIM Lucknow), the initial part of his life was full of highs. He was an academically successful person who did his Mechanical Engineering from Thapar University. He even got a PPO from Tata Motors. Manavdeep loved riding motorcycles, so when the opportunity in Honda opened up, he took it without hesitation. However, during a bike test, the brakes malfunctioned and he met with an accident. Everything started spiraling out of control from thereon. He had to be hospitalized, it was there when he decided to sit for the CAT exam. Despite being unable to sit up straight and study properly, he managed to score a 99%ile and was able to score a seat in IIM Lucknow. He even bagged a PPO in Amazon and will join the company in 2021.
