I can think of various parameters which make IIM Trichy unique from the crowd and probably makes it the only Institute of its kind in the world. Today, I am not going to talk about what world-class infrastructure and facilities that we have, or the number permanent faculty members who are the alumni of the top Institutes in India and abroad, fests, cultural events, and others - I will mostly showcase the core essence and the personality of our Institute.
First, two things that I can think of are the 'Academic Vigour' and concept of ‘Social Responsibility’ that IIM Trichy imparts and embeds within the minds of the budding managers. Where in the world will one be busy preparing for the exams, writing assignments and projects, focusing on the case studies, competitions, club and committee activities, and also enjoying like anything during the fest and parties - all at the same time and also Making A Difference? Yes, that’s what makes IIM Trichy unique.

The campus is spread on a sprawling 175 acres of land and facilities like technologically equipped smart classrooms, elegantly furnished single occupancy air-conditioned hotel rooms, a world-class library, 24x7 Wi-Fi, and most importantly a unique environment for learning and culture of helping each other at all times of need set IIM Trichy apart from all the other b-schools in the country.
Truly International! When the world comes over to IIM Trichy - The International Week
This is the first of its initiative taken up by any IIM. IIM Trichy hosts an International Week where faculty from worldwide establishments in the US, Europe and Singapore, and personalities of repute from the world of academia come down to our campus to demonstrate specific concepts and equip the students with skills and expertise according to their areas of interest and specialization. The students get an enormous chance to see things from a global point of view from none other than the industry experts.
And we go to see the world...
Apart from the regular international student exchange programmes, we have an elective course called the International Business Practice, here at IIM Trichy. The goal of this course is to furnish students with a hands-on understanding of and experience of working on a live business problem with a cross-cultural perspective. The in-class discussions outfit the budding managers with essential ideas of diverse administration lateral and program thinking processes and their applications in tackling real-life business issues. The students spend around 2 weeks of their time at the partnering organization’s premises in South East Asian countries for the final stages of the project and this pedagogy is followed to enable us to see how the different concepts and frameworks we learn in this course, and different courses during our PGP curriculum can be applied in practice to take care of a business issue in a diverse and cross-cultural setting.
One can cite more than a hundred things that make IIM Trichy really special, like for instance the various kinds of unique activities and events conducted by the different clubs and committees, the diversity in the batches of students in terms of experience, profiles, and regions from where they belong - it acts as a very real representation of all of India in itself, the student community itself that brings the vibrancy in the campus, through the celebrations of festivals, and fun, frolic, parties, and a lot more.
