Chapter 1: First Impressions...
Frantic, running, sweat dripping down her face, scared, she asked the security guard if she could enter the campus for the interview. With a sweet welcoming smile he replied, “Madam take a deep breath, you are not late. You have to go into the main building, 1st floor”. Later the peon uncles made sure we had some tea and snacks while our interview process proceeded. These reassuring words and that trustworthy, happy to help smile, left an indelible impression of the college and its staff. It helps create an impression that if the support staff helps you and takes care of all your small needs, then the college will surely be taking us into their arms graciously and help groom us and pick us up as and when we trip.
One lesson that this provided was that any place of work, where the employees love doing what they had been assigned, becomes an environment that exudes love and becomes the place for germination of new ideas that take the institution to its worthy place. Such loyalty can never be only monetary. That built my trust in this institute.
Chapter 2: As You Arrive
After the results and admission processes (which went excessively smoothly for my college) came the day of moving in the hostel. Situated in the middle of South Delhi, This wonderful place overlooking Sanjay van is a gem in itself. There were lots of tears, hugging, hope of a brighter future, a new life ahead. In between all the excitement and tears were the welcoming staff especially our warden (always wants to be called Shabnam di) who took us all in as her own. She has transformed into a big sister, away from home taking care of all petty needs. Like, when my mattress needed to be replaced. I was very busy and could not attend to the person. And the hostel norm suggests that there needs to be someone from the room for that to happen and my regress session didn’t allow me to take time out and I was about to skip my lunch when came my superwoman, Shabnam di. She told me to go grab my lunch and that she would ensure that my mattress was fixed before I retire for the day. Such love and dedication is, again, what makes IIFT unique. Such immense love and gratitude I feel for her every day and it keeps growing with the passage of time. Such memories and such kindness can never be lost or forgotten.
Chapter 3: My Batch
The IIFT’s batch of 2018-20. That was all we knew of each other then. That was how we were welcomed into the college. Diverse cultures, different perceptions, united by a batch year. After the settling in, just a week was needed for us to become a whole. One batch, one family. The rigorous starting days brought us closer. A support system had been established. Then came the day we all would can never forget. After all work and no sleep, came the day to party. To let go off all the tireless nights and just enjoy that we could make past it. The mail informing about the party for the freshers got everyone on their toes, just plain and simple excitement descended.
Chapter 4: The Meeting Senior Phase
It was a scary feeling at first to imagine how the seniors will be like. How would that rapport between us be? All the questions were and doubts vaporized after a few meetings. They have been friends from whom we can draw energy and guidance. The kind of people we can always rely on and the ones who ensure that we have a great year ahead.
Chapter 5: When We Leave
However, it is a long way, but I know for sure it is going to be a great journey, with people from the teachers, my fellow batch mates to the awesome support staff had been the backbone. We all are dependent on each other and have each other’s back. The bonding that we share is something that will last a lifetime. Well all I can say is I am so proud of being an IIFTIAN. This close-knit family will continue to grow forever and always.

Aditya Birla Group is a large conglomerate. In spite of the vast array of products, it was very easy to pick the Group Company I wanted to work for; it is Aditya Birla Fashion & Retail limited. As Aditya Birla group rightly puts ”Fashion is perhaps the very first expression of success of a free nation. Fashion is a celebration and a joy. It is an expression that can manifest itself in different ways for different people and these ways are forever evolving.” The strength of an individual lies within themselves. I find that I have good acumen in fashion. I am a person who helps people deciding what to wear and having an idea of the latest trends. I believe fashion can change the way people look at you and strengthens you by building confidence.
