Situated on the top of a hill, on the outskirts of the city, IIM Indore is a tourist stop in between the industrial area of Pithampur and the simple city of Indore. The sheer beauty of the drive up to the main building from the gate will surprise you. The meandering roads up the hillside, the lush green trees all around you and the dazzling lights of the city beneath if you happen to drive up at night, are all breath-taking. It’s the simple beauty of the campus which makes it unique. And what makes it even more so, is that it is scenic beauty where you least expect it, on the outskirts of a small industrial town – Pithampur. Perhaps this is the reason why this remains one of the lesser talked about qualities of the campus. People speak about the academics, and placements, and the events. But what escapes most conversations is the quiet serenity of the place.
The campus comes with its own sightseeing spots, the sunset point and the titanic point to name a couple. And for the slightly more adventurous crowd, climbing atop any of the auditoriums at night will give you a majestic view of the city down below. Thousands of lights, twinkling like stars in the night sky. Students spend hours just sitting there, looking at the lights from afar.
However, if you’re not a night person, worry not. There is something special for the morning lovers as well. IIM Indore is home to thousands of birds. New residents of the campus often wake up early to go bird watching. With the morning air filled with their chirping and the sky filled with their colours, it is an experience worth treasuring.
IIMs are known for hectic schedules and rigorous classes, but a little bit of quiet serenity is often enough to put the tiresome day behind you, and just enjoy. So while the college may be all about studies and placements, the campus holds something special for everybody.
If given an opportunity I would like to work at Aditya Birla Capital within Aditya Birla Group. It is one of the premier financial services umbrella firms in the country and along with the rest of the group has had a big role to play in the shaping of its economy. With my interest in finance as the domain of my choice after completing my MBA program and the prestigious brand of ABG, I feel that Aditya Birla Capital will be a place that I would enjoy working at while also developing my own skillset even further.
