There are campuses which are on flatlands, there are campuses on the mountainside, there are campuses situated in the valley, and then there is IIM Indore, a campus which itself is a hill.

Situated in Rau which is adjacent to the city of Indore, a city known for its commercial activities, you would be hard-pressed to find a first-time visitor who will expect natural beauty inside the campus. But as newcomers, as well as visitors, find out firsthand, IIM Indore not only exceeds your expectations but also makes you wonder how you could have been so wrong.

Unlike many b-schools, which are built smack dab in the more crowded parts of the city, the campus is well displaced from the concrete jungle that is Indore. Away from the hustle and bustle of the city, the greenery of the campus itself gives you a refreshing feeling. Add to that the myriad of birds you will find at any time of the year, you would wish you could have more time to stay.

Of course, it is tough for the students staying at the bottom of the campus to climb a humungous flights of stairs multiple times a day, but the people at Planet- I have found a way to cheer themselves up. Just go to Titanic point, situated at arguably the most elevated ground, at dusk and you will have a breathtaking view of the horizon in front of you. In fact, it would be remiss for anyone to not check out the spectacular photographs people have taken over the years standing at that same point. For the students, it is not even necessary to go to any special place to check out the view. Just pause on the way upwards from the cricket stadium and turn around. The shimmering lights of the largest city in Madhya Pradesh are a sight to behold from such a height. Similarly, on the road from the main gate to building one has to just look tothe right to see it.

Coming to buildings themselves, the various residences are arranged in a circle around an imaginary center. Even the academic block is constructed as a ring surrounding a central courtyard not unlike the havelis of old: just larger, and circular instead of rectangular. As the day ends, the main entrance to the building is lit up; and with a water fountain facing the entrance, you feel like you could hardly be in a more beautiful place.

Which ABG company would you want to work for and why?

The company I would to work with under the Aditya Birla Group banner is Aditya Birla Capital Limited.

I have been very interested in the financial services industry since I started my B-school journey and I immensely enjoyed my work in the same field during my summer internship. It is something, I feel, that plays well to my strengths and I feel I can contribute to my fullest capacity. Additionally, in India the Wealth Management and Asset Management fields are just coming of age. Working in these fields would mean that I would face challenges almost on a daily basis and working around them would give me immense professional and personal satisfaction.
