IIM Kashipur is a relatively new IIM, but it has carved a space for itself among the top B-schools in India, and that too in a short time span. One of the major factors that help IIM Kashipur establish itself in this league is its campus.
IIM Kashipur is located in the city of Kashipur, Uttarakhand. The campus is constructed at a strategic distance from the main city market for a peaceful study environment. The college provides routinely buses for commuting to the city. However, the need to commute to the city is less as adequate facilities are present on the campus itself. The UpharVatika Shop in the campus caters to all the needs of the students, and the other needs can be fulfilled by the online services available.
The mess and hostel facilities are one of the best present in any given B-school. The single room hostels with attached bathrooms are provided with amenities like water purifier, washing machine, laundry and other facilities. Mess has excellent food quality with a good mix of various nutrients required by the human body. Mess is completely managed by the students of the mess committee.
Everyone knows that the rigor of a B-school drains a lot from its student, but a healthy dinner and a good brisk walk in the campus before sleep helps you to recharge for the next day. The campus never sleeps, i.e. there are classes being conducted sometimes at the night by the academic committee, which is completely voluntary. There are discussions and debates between floor mates in the common hall regarding case studies or any trending topic till the point of exhaustion.
The regular classes usually end by 6pm in the evening after which students can be seen playing various sports like cricket, football, table tennis, basketball, etc. There is holidays on Saturdays and Sundays during which there are various clubs and committees which conduct events to refresh students. Uttarakhand has various tourist spots for a student to explore and disconnect for a while from all the external pressure.
Guest lecturers visit the college on a regular basis to interact with the students and inspire them. There is a healthy two-way discussion between the students and the lecturers. Students are boosted to speak up on the stage to build up their confidence and public speaking skills, which will benefit the students to become future leaders.
The campus is provided with an amphitheatre which is used for entertainment purposes like agnitriya fest, yoga day and other purposes. The academic block is provided with all facilities like library, air conditioned classrooms, water cooler, canteen, etc. Library is provided with air conditioned halls and wide variety of newspapers, journals, books, etc.
The security is also always alert. They always keep a record of the student going out of the campus by recording their roll number and time of leaving. The security persons are helpful in locating a cab or an auto for commuting purposes.
In the end, IIM Kashipur is a place where the nexus of knowledge and fun exists.
Which ABG company would one want to work for and why?
I would like to join the Aditya Birla’s retail arm of “More store” in sales and marketing role. Marketing is something which has fascinated me from the very beginning of the start-up scenario and I would like to implement some modern technological changes into the marketing tactics of the store. The scope of marketing has increased with the presence of augmented and virtual reality. Also, I have always had an exposure towards the FMCG brands manufacturing and business tactics due to my family background. This is a sector where I can learn and understand things faster to spot the places where I need to make the changes. Hence, I would like to work in the retail arm of Aditya Birla.
