The Government of India finally decided to settle on with Sirmaur, Himachal Pradesh for establishing its 19th Indian Institute of Management. Away from the hustle and bustle of the city, yet at a strategic location-we call it #TheHimalayanIIM. Apart from having the unique culture of IIMs which it inherited, the unique traits which this IIM has, differentiates it from other IIMs. Though the IIM is presently located in the temporary campus of Himachal Institute of Technology, it has been generously allotted a spacious campus with a stretch of 210 acres of green land under its kitty. Since the institute is yet to see the new campus, the present campus has more to offer to its students with its limited infrastructural resources.
The campus, as defined by Google, consists of the grounds and buildings of a university or college but here it is more than just a tangible thing. It is the life of many aspirants who have come here to make their dreams transform into reality-struggling, striving and dedicating each day of their stay in the campus for the cause.
The first batch consisted of mostly fresher who set the ball rolling for the coming batches. The second batch had the presence of students with work experience who took the charisma of the institute to next level. But the present third batch has an overwhelming number of students with considerable work experience who left their well-paid jobs to be here and strengthen the building blocks of the campus with their experience. The current junior batch also has a good number of freshers who constantly look out for challenging roles and responsibilities in the affairs of the college. But one thing which is common among all the students is their passion to excel in each and every task they undertake.
As customary in B-Schools, the different committees, clubs, associations of our campus has been trying very hard to prove the mettle of the college everywhere. Since, our college is one of the baby IIMs, the students here are setting a trend with differentiation. This can be judged by the increasing number of companies coming here for placements but this is not the sole parameter of performance. The college has also given confidence to the aspiring entrepreneurs to go for their own start-up ventures.
The description of our college campus would be unfair without the mention of friendly learned young professors who are ready to work shoulder to shoulder with the students all the time. They give enough space for the students to judge a situation, make a decision and enjoy the results of the decision.
Last but not the least, our campus has the first women director in the country who has received the first Ladies Award this year from Honourable President of India at Rashtrapati Bhavan and under whose able leadership our college would be able to scale new heights in the coming future.
Which ABG company would you want to work for and why?
I would like to work for Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail Limited among the companies of Aditya Birla Group. I have pretty decent work experience at middle management level in a Public Sector Bank wherein I strove for making strategies to get more customer satisfaction and revenues for the bank. I can use my skills developed in the bank and knowledge acquired at IIM, Sirmaur to differentiate the brand from its competitors and present the products of the brand which adds value for the customers both at the mass level and niche consumers of Indian Society and compete with foreign brands as well.
