Every year, MBA aspirants juggle between several B-Schools. There are various parameters on which they make one of the most important decisions of their life. Apart from the culture, vision and location of the institute, my decision involved an additional check of the vibes I get from an institution. That's what led me to be a part of a top-notch institution in the making - IIM Udaipur.
An MBA institute provides a holistic experience to the students. With its Balicha Campus at the place, IIM Udaipur stands firm on its vision of delivering a world-class management education. The contribution of permanent faculty and the experience of visiting faculty from IIM A, B, C, ISB, etc. create an optimum mix in providing a high-quality academic experience to students. The institute ensures that the curriculum is designed in such a way to equip the students with the skills of facing the corporate pressure on a day to day basis.
Apart from many great things about the institute, what truly differentiates it is the culture and the spirit of IIM Udaipur. It not only helps become a corporate-ready graduate but also a society ready human. The institute devotedly follows its vision. And thanks to the director and the administration, every student who comes here, learns to respect and live by it. It gave me opportunities and responsibilities to act as a real manager, a decision maker. I was lucky enough to contribute to the institute by actively participating in a myriad number of events, roles, and responsibilities that the institute conferred me.
There are many magical things about the IIM Udaipur, the first being the campus itself. I’ve been a Harry Potter fan since childhood and I sometimes feel very excited because the campus gives the feel of Hogwarts. Another best part about the life at IIMU is the Rural Immersion Programme, where we went to a village, for a week, to study about various problems, women development being the one and, provided feasible solutions for the same.
This place has a lot to give to everyone – running for morning classes, struggling to stay awake during lectures, professors who bring the reality of the corporate world, partying for anything and everything, celebrating all the festivals, going out on trips, late night coffee and Maggie, cooking in hostels, never-ending meetings, sacrosanct deadlines and last-minute submissions, friends who would turn out to be like family and the list never ends. The very concept of a student-driven community and trusting the students with their decisions throws a challenge to the students to exceed the expectations.
The way that the institute has performed in the initial years is a testimony to the fact that IIM Udaipur is a great institution in the making. Shaping the dreams of several management students, it is bound to achieve the ranks of not only the top institutions of the country but also of the world.
Which ABG company would you want to work for and why?
I’ve always been a culture oriented person. I love exploring different cultures and I’ve been part of various activities to get to know about the customs, especially East Asian countries. I have watched various Asian series, listened to the songs and read about their culture. This is the reason I would like to work for Birla Jingwei Fibres Company Limited, as it is a joint venture company between the Aditya Birla Group and the Fujian Jingwei Group, which is a Chinese based organization. Also, I am very interested in Human Resources and it is really important for an HR person to very well understand the cultures of the place he/she works at. So, if any opportunity arises in the future, I would like to work for this company.
