Indian Institute of Management Kashipur also known as IIM Kashipur, is a business school located in Kashipur, Uttarakhand, India. This autonomous institute offers a two-year Post Graduate Programme in Management (PGPM) along with other courses. The foundation stone was laid on 29th April 2011.
Some of the reasons which makes it unique are stated below:
- Academics: IIM Kashipur has one of the toughest course structure for its PGP program among all B-Schools in India. We have approximately six hours of compulsory classroom. IIM Kashipur pushes its students to feel the pressure and get accustomed to the environment of the corporate life from the very first day. At times it did feel difficult, but once you have completed the program you become a changed person all together. The number of guest lectures by people coming from various industrial background and the live projects which we get to work upon are some of the best ways in which a student can learn about the corporate life.
- Infrastructure: IIM Kashipur has a campus encompassing 200 acres of area, it is largest among all the IIMs. Along with the campus, the hostels for the students are equipped with the modern facilities. IIM Kashipur provides single occupancy rooms with attached washrooms. Also, there is a living room with all the amenities-washing machine, microwave, refrigerator, settees to explore and enjoy along with your friends. It has a very large dining hall and a night canteen. Apart from hostels, when it comes to classroom, IIM Kashipur has dual projector classrooms with three sets of dual green boards. It has library stock with all the books a B-School student requires. Also, IIM Kashipur has 13 Bloomberg terminals which helps us to analyse real-time financial market data and place trades on the electronic trading platform.
- Industry: IIM Kashipur is located in the central hub of 180+ industries, from Tata Motors, Bajaj, and Ashok Leyland to Nestle, Videocon, and much more in between. There is also an event Coalescence- The annual Industry-Academia Meet, where the students of IIM Kashipur get a chance to meet the CXOs of the industry. We also have a strong alumni base which help us to invite a large number of companies to the campus for placements.
- The Amphitheatre: It is the place for all the IIM Kashipur students to celebrate various festivals like Diwali, Holi and Durga Puja. Also, various cultural events take place over here. On a summer evening, you can find students chatting and singing whereas in winters the same student gathers around the bonfire. The amphitheatre is the pulse of IIM Kashipur.
- Student Exchange Programme: Every year nearly ten students of IIM Kashipur shift out to countries in the west or the east to spend a trimester at some university there and students from those universities comes to IIM Kashipur for the same period of three to four months. This help us to interact with people of different culture, knowing them better, and also gives a new dimension to our thought. It helps us improve our communication which eventually helps us build our personality.

I would like to work for Idea Cellular in telecom sector which has got a wider scope in terms of job opportunities and career growth. Taking into account my previous work experience from IT background, it will help me picking up new things in this sector quickly. Recently Idea and Vodafone India announced their merger as a result of which their business will expand if we decide to work with this company it will surely be beneficial for our career. Due to the continuous innovation and advancement in telecom sector we will be learning new technologies and various new concepts which will eventually help us building our profile.
