My name is Anshu Arya. Currently, I am Part of the PGP 2018-20 Batch at IIM Raipur; I am a newcomer here. As I arrived at the campus of IIM Raipur, I felt a sensation of ‘change’, all around me, and also within myself.
IIM Raipur as an institution is going through a metamorphosis, and at such a rate that one can actually perceive it from one’s senses if he/she is observant enough. Being a new IIM founded in 2010, it has already earned a respectable place in the field of management education in India; and that is only because of the indefatigable vigor with which it is endeavoring to change itself. The new curriculum of IIM Raipur which shall be applicable for our batch has been designed afresh keeping in mind the everchanging scenario of the corporate and the challenges it poses. On the first day of our orientation programme, the Honourable Director of IIM Raipur, Professor Dr. Bharat Bhasker, emphasised upon the need to keep pace with the ever-changing environment by telling us a story on how it only takes mankind less than a year now, to achieve as much technological advancement as that achieved by it in the whole 19th century. Also, IIM Raipur is ready to move to the new 200-acre green campus at Naya Raipur which is built with state-of-art technologies and architecture, fit to deliver world-class learning and campus experience.
Personally, while joining IIM Raipur, I felt as if the world that I have been living in is going to change drastically here onwards; and I was not wrong in assuming that. The curriculum and extra-curricular activities are both challenging as well as highly valuable for a student’s personal growth. Discipline, punctuality, and dedication are the most important among the several practices that we are taught to inculcate in our behavior here at IIM Raipur. We, the students at IIM Raipur follow a strictly formal dress code in classes and guest lectures; such a dress code showcases professionalism and is meant to get us accustomed with the corporate-like environment that we are destined to join in the near future.
Besides this, IIM Raipur has a team of highly educated faculty members who are experienced, helpful and proactive. IIM Raipur has 13 clubs and 9 committees as of now, all of which collectively are focused on the overall personal and professional development of the students of IIM Raipur. The batch composition of IIM Raipur is quite heterogeneous, which implies a wide scope of learning from batch mates. The interactive and participative approach of teaching at IIM Raipur leverages well enough from this diversity.
All this makes IIM Raipur a platform where everyone has much to gain from. Gradually, I believe, keeping up the same pace of growth and change, IIM Raipur will be a leader among b-schools in India.
Which ABG company would you want to work for and why?
I come from a commerce background, specializing in Finance in graduation, and have a keen interest in Financial consulting, portfolio management, Investment Banking, and other related finance and banking-based job profiles.
I find Aditya Birla Capital as a desirable organisation to work with because there are a number of services that Aditya Birla Capital provides, which are Mutual Funds Management, Equity Trading, Home Finance, Personal Finance Management, SME Finance, Real Estate Finance, Loan Against Securities, Life Insurance, and several General Insurance services as well, to its customers, which implies a management professional with an inclination towards finance gets a whole lot of exposure and career options.
Also, Aditya Birla Group is a well-renowned organization, which can provide me with a satisfying work culture and a stable career. That is why I find it a very desirable organization to work with.
