Location
Nestled on the top of a hill in otherwise a flat piece of land, the dome of IIM Indore residential complex can be seen from far away. Also, from inside the campus, you get fantastic landscape views of the beauty around. The sunrise and sunsets from the academic block terraces are a sight to behold. Rains transform the hillside roads of the green campus into almost a hill station. The peace and calm environment is also a massive bonus as personal vehicles are not allowed inside the campus keeping it quiet and green.
Infrastructure
Visit the campus, and the first thing that will strike you is the wonderful infrastructure. It is not uncommon to find visitors visit the campus on the weekends. All the significant buildings are circular with an atrium in the centre. The academic block is a huge circular structure with a vast, sprawling grass spread in the centre. Also, the hostels of SR 15 and SR 17 are in the shape of a circular arc which resembles the famous wall of the ‘Nights Watch’ from ‘Game of Thrones’. Also, the sports complex is one of a kind complex with unique facilities like an Olympic sized swimming pool and well-maintained squash courts. The gym facilities are second to none, and the airconditioned mess rooms are a respite on the scorching days of summer and monsoon. They are also the place to be to enjoy any major sporting event (currently the football world cup). The Sunday movie screenings are icing on the cake.
People
The people of IIM Indore are the most critical part of what makes the campus so unique. We have the largest batch size of students for the MBA program compared to any other IIM. So, we have the numbers’ advantage! Also, the sheer variety of people that you meet and interact with is an experience in itself. It adds so much value to one as a person that will never be experienced anywhere else according to me, and you will carry this with yourself for the rest of your lives. Unity in diversity is best experienced on this campus. The vibrancy of the campus is astonishing. You will find different people doing different activities, be it 7:00 AM in the morning or 3:00 AM in the late hours of the night (early hours of the morning to be more precise!). The cultural festivals turn the campus in an absolute carnival with almost the entire of Indore thronging the gates of IIM. These are the best days to visit the campus with hundreds of activities going on everywhere.
Which ABG company would you want to work for and why?
I would like to work at Dahej Harbour and Infrastructure Limited. I feel that this is a perfect fit for me considering my work experience and graduation. I have done mechanical engineering followed by work experience in project management domain. I am interested in the operations domain, and I feel that there would be a good work profile available for an operations related role available in this company, primarily related to logistics and transportation. It would be an excellent opportunity to work in one of the largest copper smelting facilities in the world.
