I am Rahul Todiwal from IIM Indore. I would like to share here my two best classroom experiences. It was during the second term of the 2017 batch when this course started. Mr Gopal Prasad Mahapatra was assigned as a faculty for this course. I fascinated the teaching methodology used by him. The experiences are about two role plays which were conducted during the course.
Mr Mahapatra entered in the class and asked us to form groups of at most size ten. So, we all made our respective group. After that, each member of the group had been segregated into different management levels. The new group formed were Top Level Management, Mid-Level Management and the workforce. The information that leaked through the sources that there is going to be a layoff of the workforce. So, what can happen after that, a sense of insecurity developed in the workforce group? Everybody start shouting and hooting against the top management. They finally had to decide not to layoff just because of the peer pressure of the mass.
This particular incidence helped me to learn a lot like various difficulties in the steps of top management, the role of efficient information passing, time management and other big MBA jargons.
The other moment was a few classes after that. The Professor asked five of us to come to the main area of the class. The chairs were arranged to be seated. We sat down, and Mr Mahapatra gave us the business roles and started discussing the case. The case was about an infant who died using our company’s product. So, we were discussing on some of the future steps to be taken in this regard. Meanwhile, during the discussion, the crowd had started. Few people with the lady, whose baby had died came in the main area. The people started shouting the slogans. They were yelling at us. They all settled down when we threatened them in the name of the police.
Reading till you must be like what? Yeah of course it was a prank. But it helped me to learn the basics of leadership skills, negotiation skills. I admire my teacher for such a learning experience.
Aditya Birla Financial Services Group
I would like to work for ABG Financial Services Group. I am very enthusiastic about finance roles. As I want to build my career in finance, I see Aditya Birla Group as a great opportunity. The group has a significant presence across life insurance, asset management, NBFC, infrastructure project and structured finance, private equity, broking, wealth management and distribution, online money management, and general insurance advisory services. They are emerging as big players in these markets. I would work for the company where the complexity of managing things is very high. Meanwhile, during all this, it also provides enormous opportunities to grow the career.
