A Million Dreams At XIMB

Bhubaneswar was enjoying its first rain of the monsoon, sitting down to write for the first time in two weeks I looked out of my window to the towering building ahead and soaked in the exhilarating esprit de corps that the blue blazing letterheads of XIMB bring in every student’s heart and I thought about my decision to join XIMB, apart from the obvious I had three reasons to pitch in. First, the sentiments that I have attached to the name Xavier, my high school, the way a Xavier (Jesuit) institute works depicts its motto of “Magis” or “More”. The 11 years I spent in my high school shaped me as an individual with the courage to take criticism and the power to work for self-improvement and XIMB promises to give more to this.

Second, XIMB connects business with the society and has been doing this since 1987. It is one of the prestigious institutes in Odisha which has brought laurels to the state, more so it has helped in research and development in the state in collaboration with the government, establishing brand Odisha all over India.

The most important and something every Xavierian is proud of is the expansive alumni base that we have. XIMB alumni are amongst the top 10 B-schools of the country. Their incredible support and unmatched corporate experiences help not just the students interning anywhere PAN India but also guide them through to their final placements. When one of our esteemed OM faculties and alumnus of XIMB was taking a session, he narrated his student life, 20 years back, at XIMB. His stories about the academic and hostel blocks, the hectic yet promising course structure, the lack of digitalization during those days but not of assignments and projects made me realize just how deep the roots of this coveted institute reach.

So my decision has set me on this amazing two-year journey at XIMB and I eagerly wait for my share of the million dreams that one sees at XIMB.

Which ABG company I would like to work for and why?

I would like to join the textile manufacturing company, Grasim Industries Limited of the Aditya Birla Group. We know how important an industry it is and the potential it has in the international market. It’s the largest producer of viscose rayon fibre which is used as an alternative to cotton in clothing. Grasim Industries Ltd would help me build my managerial skills and get hands-on experience of the textile world, the people and their livelihoods. I think working at a place with more than 70 years of operation period would imbibe in me the essential work ethics and professionalism.
