IIM Kashipur is nestled in the foothills of Himalayas. The campus is truly unique as even though the institute oversees the Sivalik range it is located near one of the densest industrial belt in the country with more than 300 organizations having operational plants. The institute shares extremely close proximity with the Jim Corbett National Park and is a short drive away from popular hill stations like Nainital, Musoorie, Ranikhet amongst many others. The diversity in surroundings creates a perfect atmosphere for academic and industrial exposure coupled with natural surroundings which the students can explore (Schedule Permitting). Being in the vicinity of various public and private institutions, students get numerous opportunities for interactions in both the public and private spheres.
Academic rigor is a way of life at IIM Kashipur. For holistic development, the various clubs and committees actively engage students in activities which polish their skill sets and help them build a strong approach towards problem solving. The accommodation for students in the institute has been structured in a way that students can easily form study groups and help each other out through the demanding coursework. The concept of peer to peer learning is perfectly at display in the institute. After class hours students have the freedom to approach various academic clubs and committees to seek help in subjects, case studies, corporate competitions which lead to midnight sessions being held for the students, by the students!
The institute lays a strong focus on the physical and mental health of students. There is a doctor, a counsellor and a wellness group in place for students in case of any problem they would like to have addressed. Apart from these the students themselves lay emphasis on sports and other physical activities like cycling. The surroundings are tailor-made for it. The Sports Committee, which is responsible for all sporting activities in the institute, have come up with a competition which is totally unique across all B-Schools in India. Termed as ‘Kashipur Premiere League’ the event allows students to display their analytical, marketing and finance and physical acumen! The activity involves more than 130 stake holders. Six teams are up for grabs and students who have expressed to be the owners have to bid in order to win the ownership of the teams. The bid winners (owners) are then provided with a roster of more than 100 students who play different sports. With a fixed budget the owners have to build a squad, through a bidding process, to participate in three different sports. After the squads are finalized, the competition begins and is conducted over a period of three weeks. The competition has its own website which shows real time data in terms of live scores of the matches and the results. The stakes are very high as the bidding involves monetary investment. The players are paid salaries which amount to what they were bid for by their team owners. The total prize amount is shared between the winners and the runner up teams. The competition format is similar to any international event. And with the quality of matches at the display is high as many of the students have been part of their State Teams thereby providing a great value to the entire event.
All the management institutes focus heavily on academics and try to provide ample facilities on the campus to students to hone their theoretical skills through practical application. To ensure its students are well equipped- theoretically and practically, IIM Kashipur is amongst the very few IIMs to have active Bloomberg Terminals which are open to students for access. There are eleven active Bloomberg Terminals in IIM Kashipur, which is amongst the highest in the country. Students can access real time financial data about the market and organizations.
Life at IIM Kashipur is a blend of academic rigor academics and co-curricular activities. There is a plethora of opportunities for students to grab with no constraints of time and an availability of unlimited resources. All of this makes IIM Kashipur unique in the truest sense.

During my Summer Internship Programme I had the opportunity to work on product development and digital strategy of an NBFC which helped me learn a lot about the industry. I developed an interest in working for the industry through my stint and can leverage the skills I learnt in my job.
