Coming from a remote village in Uttar Pradesh, where even the electricity reached around 2010, to one of the premier B-Schools of the country, I have learned one of the most important lessons of my life – ‘Nothing Worth Having Comes Easy’.
It was the Friday evening of 29th March 2019 when I was getting ready to attend a meeting in my office, I received a text from my friend about the shortlist of XIMB. With lots of thoughts and prayers in my mind, I’ve opened the phone and entered my roll number – Yes! I was shortlisted. That was the day when I’ve realized that I’ve got the platform I was waiting for my whole life, to open my wings and fly high. I was the happiest person in the meeting room on a Friday evening while my meeting lasted for more than 2 hours.
But, reaching here had never been so easy for me. It had been a roller-coaster ride with lots of ups and downs, numerous failures in entrance exams, disappointments and a huge amount of silent cries while staying away from my parents since the age of 11. But every time I fell, I stood up stronger, learned from my mistakes and never stopped paddling my life. I was persistent even when every bit of me wanted to give up.
When I look back today, I find a journey full of hardships, failures, and successes which has made me the person I am today against all odds. This journey still inspires me to never stop and keep moving even though things are against me because one day everything will come in line.
How ABG has impacted my life
I still remember the first permanent roof that we had during my childhood, it was made of aluminium sheets manufactured by Hindalco (a subsidiary of the Aditya Birla Group). It has fulfilled the dreams of millions of people living in villages to have a permanent roofing solution that solved the problem of dribbling water from thatched roofs during the rainy season.
The Aditya Birla Group has always produced goods that have been meant for the general public. It has been constantly present in millions of Indian’s life since pre-independence time in the form of Cement, Chemical & Fertiliser, Mining, Infrastructure, Black Carbon, Insulators, Telecom, and Fashion & Retail Industry.
Coming from a family with agriculture as a primary source of income, I have seen how Indo Gulf Fertilisers has transformed the lives of farmers by providing quality products in fertilizers including urea and other nitrogenous fertilizers.
The penetration of ABG conglomerate is so deep in people’s lives, they can’t imagine life without having any ABG products in their lifestyle. From the Peter England formal clothes which are constantly on me in XIMB to that quintessential party wear that I wore during my cousin’s marriage from Louis Philippe, ABG is constantly associated with me. Clothes have always been much more than just a style statement for me, it has been a way to express my personality and ABG fashion and retail brands have helped me to achieve this goal. It is the same value that the ABG group talks about adding in millions of lives through innovative products and services. Yes! ABG has always been big in my life.
