What sets Faculty of Management Studies apart is its unique student driven approach. The college is undoubtedly known for its ROI, its placements and CTCs, but what makes FMS a college that sets itself apart are its students. Each and every student is dedicated, motivated and loyal towards the values, the expectations as well as the growth of the institute. Another factor that goes on to making the institute distinctive are the professors who are always geared up to support the building blocks; the students. Also, FMS being a compact campus allows higher levels of interaction and enables building deeper and closer relations with everyone. The fact that the institute is also a part of Delhi University brings about advantages of its own, and characteristics that make it exclusive in all aspects.
A memorable classroom experience in my B-school
The most memorable classroom experience for me was during our session on ‘Organizational Behavior’. The entire class revolved around perception of individuals, how perception is shaped, personality of individuals etc. The class ended with a fun quiz on feedbacks. The quiz had 8 questions on how one would react while giving a feedback and 4 questions on how one would react while receiving a feedback.
The reason why I call this as of one of the most memorable classroom experience is because it was able to give all 70 students in the classroom a personalized opinion. It left all of us with a thought that we could ponder upon and probably take steps to improve upon so as to give better feedbacks and be open to criticism.
Introducing - some of my crazy batch-mates
A few days ago, I was an individual who was enthusiastic and excited to join FMS. As days passed by, I understood that I am no longer an individual but a part of ‘The Batch 2020’. All of us are from different backgrounds, experiences and domains, yet we are one. We as a batch are diverse in various aspects but what brings us together is our craziness. Introducing some of my crazy batch-mates from varied backgrounds to varied interests.
Shanky Garg
Shanky is a budding entrepreneur. He is from a commerce background and has spent his entire life in Delhi; right from schooling to under-graduation and now post-graduation. He has experience in his own family business. He has always been clever and smart. He partnered with waiters of a few restaurants and with the help of MagicPin (An online cashback portal), he would send bills of the restaurants to the waiters and earned INR 48000 as cashback. His will, motivation and craziness helped him in his urge to earn money quickly.
Sparsh Gupta
Sparsh is a dedicated, hardworking and goal oriented person. He is one of the 4 chartered accountants that our batch has. His passion and dedication for the field is immense. But apart from being studious and geeky, Sparsh has also followed his heart; no matter how crazy his thoughts were. He stuffed 11 people into one WagonR (capacity of 5-6 people) for a road trip that he had planned.
Pooja Parwani
Pooja is one of the most experienced people in our batch. She has a work experience of nearly 3 years in the field of IT. She is passionate about travelling and has never left any chance to escape into the wilderness. While working in Chennai, she once planned to go to Pondicherry at 10pm on 3 bikes with a group of 6 females. She actually ended up travelling nearly 150kms with just INR 1000 and 6 females.
Richa Bubna
Richa is a commerce student with no work experience. She is one of the youngest people in our batch. She is outspoken and frank with great communication skills. She is immensely passionate about karate and has surpassed the crazily hectic 16hour sessions to achieve a black belt for the same.
Which ABG company would you want to work for and why?
Getting into Aditya Birla Group of companies is like a dream come true; not just for me but definitely any B-school candidate. Given a choice I would want to be a part of Aditya Birla Retail Limited. The company being a major market share holder will have many stories and experiences to learn from. Being in the retail industry, it is extremely important to have a huge consumer base which ABRL already has adding to its competence. Also retailing in India is one of the pillars of its economy and contributes as high as 10% to the GDP of India since these markets have high market potential, low economic risk and moderate political risk.
