What clicks your mind when you hear the term Levis? For me, it's Fashion. While the apparel brand makes one smart and fashionable, a learning opportunity is an icing on the cake.
This April, 8 weeks internship stint started at corporate office with an introduction to the mentor and co-intern with a discussion on the projects assigned. My project focused on finance processes for Levi.in – the e-commerce platform of the company. As a part of this project, I had the opportunity to deal with customer issues which showed me the reality of the difficult life of customer support representatives who face customer’s wrath, insecurity, impatience and issues.
My interactions with E-commerce manager, Distribution manager and accounts team not only enhanced my business knowledge but also increased my learning curve as a team player and integrator, translating their process jargons with finance jargons for completion of customer refunds.
I owe my project success to my mentor showing immense confidence in me by giving the ownership of the project, supporting my way of working and continuously guidance of improvements. His ability to breaking complex issues into a simple one is a big takeaway learning. My mentor is an extremely busy and senior executive - honed my ability to understand the mentor’s expectations and convey information with accuracy and brevity with focus on the priority and relevance of the information being passed.
Meanwhile, I was also assigned another task of performance assessment of Brand Ambassadors of Levis. This increased my exposure to the sales and distribution channel of the company as well as learning the harsh ground difficulties of sales representatives (termed as brand ambassadors in an organis1ation). I feel lucky for giving a presentation to Director Sales and gaining his insights on the strategic decisions taken by the companies.
Being treated as an employee, I still feel connected to this organisational and its people.
