When mapping out their careers, one of the most important elements to consider for MBA students is what sector and domain they'd like to start their management careers in. This can go on to decide what your career looks like three, five or even ten years down the line. So which career path does India's crème de la crème lean towards? What sectors and roles do IIM students see themselves in, and why?
As a part of our biannual InsideIIM Recruitment Survey, we ask students from the top IIMs as well as other elite business schools what they think of the b-school recruitment process, and also ask for their preferences in terms of the companies they want to work with, what aspects of a company or a role influences them to join said company, amongst other questions. We also pick students' brains to find out which sectors and roles are they most inclined towards, and which they are least attracted to. In this report of the InsideIIM Recruitment Survey of 2020, we reveal the top-5 most desirable sectors and roles for MBA students in India.
