Situated in the City of Lakes and Palaces, IIMU campus is spread over a mind-boggling 250 acres of picturesque landscapes with mountains, hills and the academic and hostel blocks, all designed by the Pritzker laureate, BV Doshi. The Institute shifted to the permanent campus on October 2016, being the first new IIM to do so.
The infrastructure of the whole campus has been constructed keeping in mind the Perspective Plan, which calls for 750 students across programs by 2020 and 60 permanent faculties.
Why U?
Carrying forward the more than half a century-long legacy of the Indian Institutes of Management, IIMU aspires to take its place among world-class management schools creating global knowledge. IIMU not only seeks to add value to the students of its high-quality programmes, but also to accomplished and passionate faculty, who will drive the mission.
Why Sustainability?
For centuries before the words sustainability and conservation were used, co-existing with nature has been at the very core of life in Udaipur, the capital of the erstwhile princely state of Mewar.
- The core of IIMU’s mission statement deals with “to create responsible leaders by providing values-based and application-oriented management education” and “to contribute to the development of the region by focusing on wealth creation and social welfare”.
- One of IIMU’s priorities, as outlined by the Director, Prof. Janat Shah, is “to instil in our students a sense of commitment as managers to have a socially responsible impact; to give them an understanding of how difficult and challenging this often can be; and to expand their knowledge and their intellectual horizons so they emerge transformed and prepared to have an impact on the world of business and society at large.”
- Along these lines, IIMU’s core values include Environmental Consciousness/Ecological Sustainability.
IIMU’s activity portfolio reflects this commitment:
- Management Development Program for Women Entrepreneurs
- Summer Program for Future Leaders in Development with Duke University
- Rural Immersion programme for the students of the flagship PGP course, in which the student community is divided into five-member teams which spend a week in a village where they work closely with NGOs to appreciate on-the-ground realities and challenges faced by those at the bottom of the pyramid.
- Students also do live consulting projects in the NGO, development and co-operative sectors.
- Prayatna, the social responsibility club, conducts activities across sectors such as education, healthcare, environment, and livelihood.
- Inclusive India Forum is an event for NGOs, CSR, HBS alumni and students, the first chapter of which was organized in 2014.
- Green Campus – IIMU is committed to its ambitious plan of becoming a net-zero campus, i.e., one which is self-sufficient in terms of water, energy, and waste treatment.
- CSR Ranking – Aside from active participation in grassroots levels, IIMU is also involved deeply in CSR. Our faculty, Prof. Neeti Sanan, has collaborated with Namrata Rana and Utkarsh Majmudar to create a report ranking India's top companies on the basis of their engagement with CSR.
Why ABG?
I want to work for Aditya Birla Fashion & Retail as it would provide me with an opportunity to hone my skills and passion for marketing and consumer behaviour and to study, gain insights and develop market offerings to customers. ABFRL has an extensive portfolio of famous brands and offerings, to which I wish to add value through my academics. Furthermore, starting off my career as part of a conglomerate of such a stature as the Aditya Birla Group would serve as an icing on the cake.
