Vinod Gupta School of Management (VGSoM), the first B-school established in the IIT system, has yet again set a benchmark by adding another first to its kitty. It was a proud moment for the faculty and students of VGSoM to receive 8 Bloomberg Terminals which were inaugurated by Mr.Vinod Gupta last week. Students and faculty alike were later given a hands-on introductory session by Mr. Palaniappan from Bloomberg who mentioned that VGSoM had became a part of the exclusive and coveted few institutes which can boast of such terminals.
It is hailed as a step that will take the finance program and research at VGSoM to a new level altogether. Mr. Vinod Gupta was of the opinion that the terminals would help the finance students prepare better for the job market.

The one and a half hour session enabled the enthusiastic students to identify real-time data, plethora of research reports and features that the terminals have to offer. The multi-screen terminals enabled students to work on multiple data sheets and graphs at the same time.
The Bloomberg Terminals are bound to maximize the full potential of the Ph.D., MBA and Financial Engineering students currently enrolled with courses at VGSoM. The advent of these terminals will benefit students both inside and outside the finance program, as well as faculty doing research on financial markets.

Now the students will have exposure to highest industry standard software system. With its strong news and research features, Bloomberg Terminals are one of the most heavily used on sales and trading desks at Wall Street investment banks and brokerage houses, as well as the asset and wealth management divisions of those firms across the world.
In addition to streaming real-time global news from multiple third-party sources, the Bloomberg terminal will provide students with an opportunity to increase their analytical capabilities not only for equity and fixed-income products, but for currencies, commodities and derivatives as well.
The installation of the Bloomberg terminals is another story in the long continuing success saga of VGSoM. And we are sure that many such stories will be written in the near future.
