It was a hot summer afternoon in the month of April, I was sitting with my mother wondering about the converts I have had so far. It was a state of confusion as I was not able to decide if I should pursue MBA or continue with my job. Suddenly, my mobile blinked and I received an email that read, ‘Welcome to XIMB!’ I could feel the rush of excitement in my veins as I read those lines and overwhelmed with joy I started calling my friends and relatives. We even started planning for the trip without even realising that we had a couple of months in our hands.
As days went by finally it was 13th June, I started my journey from Lucknow to the beautiful city of temples, Bhubaneshwar. It was an unexplored territory as we have never been to the eastern part of India. Leaving behind my job and home I stepped into the new world of knowledge and adventure. In the first week itself, we were introduced to the world of MBA as the seniors bombarded us with pre-assignments carrying serious deadlines, a routine in management. Before we absorbed the culture, vision and history of the institute, we were familiarised with ‘Credit & Debit’, presentation and group discussions. It was later I realised that it is all part of the motto of our institute, ‘MAGIS’ which simply means to strive for more.
Initially, some of us had doubts if there would be places to hang around in the town but, soon we realised that there will never be a time in our hands and all that would matter is the life in the campus. The campus boasts of its state of the art infrastructure, Wi-Fi enabled campus, sports ground, gymnasium, indoor complex and so on. The seniors amazing and ever helpful for all of us. They have been more of a mentor and we hope to learn more from them throughout the year.
I have reached the right place and would ensure that I make the best use of the opportunities provided to me.
Which ABG company would I want to work for and why?
Aditya Birla Group provides a diversity of portfolios and it becomes really difficult to choose one from the collection of gems. If given an opportunity, I would like to work for Aditya Birla Capital where I would like to focus on the insurance sector. The sector is going through a major change as the population in India is becoming aware of the necessity and importance of various categories of insurance. The products affect the life of the customers at a personal level and are opted by all the levels of the society.
