IIM Indore Placement Committee

Situated on the outskirts of a bustling city, IIM Indore is a temple of MBA learnings and more so, of their practical applications. The campus is abuzz with activities occurring throughout the day and night, with classes, clubs and committees planning their next big event, fest co-ordination, practices of special interest groups, etc. The list goes on and on (and so do the never-ending stairs!).

My campus is unique in a thousand different ways, but some of the ones I’m legally allowed to talk about are:

  • The campus is the only IIM to have a socially conscious management aspect to its MBA curriculum, as mentioned in its mission statement, and highlighted by RIP - Rural Integration Programme, which is a week long programme for Indore students to visit the rural areas of Madhya Pradesh to familiarise themselves with the ground realities and help make a difference.
  • The campus is also the only IIM to host an HOP – Himalayan Outbound Programme, which involves an exciting 5 day trek to the Everest base camp, and is filled with team building activities. Students unanimously agree that it’s the best way to earn credits!
  • The campus is also the only IIM to run a successful Industry Interface Programme every year, with students working on live projects with companies to help understand and solve their business problems.
  • The campus is also the only IIM to conduct a 5-year Integrated Programme of Management, with students learning the fundamentals of MBA right after school, to be better prepared for the complexities of running an organisation. This batch merges with the PGP batch in its 4th year, leading to an interesting mix of ideas emerging from the dynamics of the student batch as a whole.
  • They say that strength lies in numbers. This could not be truer for IIM Indore, with its batch size of 450 (PGP Indore), 60 (PGP Mumbai), 120 (IPM) and 30 (PGP-HRM), making it a total batch of 660 students, with its alumnus being well placed in the corporate ladder, adding value to the college through their networks, bringing in competitions and placement opportunities for the students.
  • The college is also the only IIM to feature an Olympic size swimming pool, extensive gymnasiums, football and cricket grounds, badminton, volleyball, and even squash courts!

All in all, it’ well and truly said that this castle on the hill transforms all those who step into its welcoming arms, and leaves them full of dreams to change the world, equipped with the confidence and humility that’s a must for managers in this dynamic day and age. Thank you for making me a part of your legacy, IIM Indore.

  • Which ABG company would you want to work for and why?

I would want to work for Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail Limited, as I’m inspired by its brands because they were among the first few Indian brands to start retailing in formals, especially women formals. Being a woman myself, Van Heusen exemplifies the modern woman – career oriented, firm and suave, having all the charismatic qualities a manager should have. Being a 2nd year MBA student from a top-tier institute, working with a renowned Indian MNC as ABGLP is an attractive proposition for me and I would like to explore the opportunities present within ABGLP to enhance my career, just like the determined and perseverant Van Heusen woman.
