26th December 2016 the date that will never be forgotten. This was the date when I for the first time entered the office of Aditya Birla Finance for my internship. I was in second year of my college and had never interned anywhere before. I knew that I had to have an experience of working in the corporate environment before I took the decision of pursuing an MBA. In few days of interning at Aditya Birla Finance I knew that I had to do an MBA because unlike some other internships, at Aditya Birla I was given full exposure of the corporate world which gave me the clarity in taking my decision.
Why is Aditya Birla Group big in my life? For me Aditya Birla Group will always hold a very special place. I know that my internship at Aditya Birla Finance is a part of the reason why I am here at IIM Ranchi pursuing an MBA, the long working hours, the meetings with the clients, the motivational and knowledgeable sessions with my mentor taught me the professionalism, discipline, and more than anything it made me realize how much I enjoyed the corporate work environment. The entire credit for my transition from a confused intern who was able to convert only one call into a meeting in a week to a focused and a passionate intern who also ended up getting the recognition of the intern of the month for being able to convert the maximum number of calls into meetings.
I have had to face a lot of challenges and obstacles in my life from having to settle into a boarding school only when I was 10 to having to fight my way up. But there was this one time where I got a chance to interact with some unprivileged students who taught me that Life is going to through challenges all through the way but it is upon us how we make the best out of those situations. This was back in 2013 when I was in class 10 in a boarding school in Dehradun, at that time there were flash floods triggered by very heavy rainfall and cloudburst in Uttarakhand which affected 12 out of the 13 districts in Uttarakhand. We as a society had to do something to build back everything that had been washed away, so my school in collaboration with other schools arranged for a fund raiser and was also successful in raising a decent amount. But the problem was that the people affected were huge in number and help would reach late specially to the rural areas, so I had an idea of adoption- where every school could adopt a local school from any of the areas and then help it grow and provide it with basic necessities. The idea was liked by everyone and was implemented. Our adopted school was not very far so till the time everything was settled we took the responsibility of teaching the students and painting their classrooms. I still remember the name of my student Yash, he was so happy that his studies were not getting missed and that he was getting tables and chairs to sit on. He everyday would tell me how I inspired him to grow up and study hard so that he could give his parents a good life. It has been one of my biggest achievements to have been able to impact someone to do good in his life but little did he know that he instead taught me to see the brighter side of life always.
