Almost A Month At XIMB

Gazing outside the window of the superfast train as I was travelling from Kolkata to Bhubaneswar, a million flashbacks of the past six months galloped through my mind. From reading comprehensions and practicing tricky quants to the doomsday and finally suiting up for interviews in various B-Schools, I choose a lushy green campus in the smart city of Bhubaneswar by the name of XIMB as my home for the next two years. Little did I know that the hard work and mental preparation in life before MBA was a mere cake walk and amidst the greenery that I was about to enter lies hundreds of sleepless nights, thousands of deadlines and a completely different life from the outside world.

As I walked through the gates of XIMB for the first time I was not only mesmerized by the serenity and ambience of the campus but also by the help that I received from each and every person associated with the college. From arranging converts meet to boarding the hostels, every facility was smoothened by their efforts. The entire batch was greeted with ice breaking sessions and within a week’s time I got know not only most of my batch-mates but also a bundle of seniors. The excitement of attending the first lecture was followed by the frustrations of not comprehending an entirely different genre of education. Again it was through the unique talents of the peer group, life was smoothened out.

As I near to spend a month in this campus, I understood the uniqueness of my college does not lie in the serious classrooms, book-laden libraries, the lushy green field or the modernized hostels, but it is the professors who work hard to make us understand every details of the subjects, it is the workers everywhere in and around the campus to help you out with your daily life problems, the batch-mates who all are the daily dose of random shinanigans and of-course the seniors who will not only help you out with studies and assignments but will drive you to be successful manager.

Which ABG company would you want to work for and why?

Having the opportunity to express my choice to work in a company of India’s one of the largest conglomerate Aditya Birla Group, I would choose Hindalco Industries Limited. Having completed my B-Tech in Metallurgical and Materials Engineering and fascinating Operations as a major in my MBA, Hindalco Industries Limited will provide me the perfect platform to showcase my talent. Being involved in a product based startup, I understood the nuances associated with day to day business operations. Hindalco will certainly provide the perfect opportunity for both me and the company to develop and progress together in the upcoming business world.
