I was a tiny baby.
Born in the peak of winter, I was in desperate need of warm clothing. And as my mother would attest, there are few pleasures in life as sweet as swaddling your newborn in a thick, woolen blanket you've knitted. My mother still recounts spending hours putting together little booties and capes and miniature monkey caps. All from the finest wool that my parents could afford.
So you can imagine my mother's sorrow when I turned out to be highly allergic to wool. Rashes and coughs filled our days and terrifying hospital runs, our nights. I was so sickly that my mother took to wrapping me up in her old silk sarees, to keep my temperature up.
In came ABGL to the rescue.
With an impressive current domestic market share of 38% in Indian Rayon, it's not difficult to see the company's hand in keeping a small soul warm, a mother satisfied and a father, relieved. While my mother had to start from scratch in knitting my woolies, she had the assurance of quality and of the fact that my skin wouldn't break out due to exposure to the artificial fibers.
Not just myself, but millions like me, owe our comfort to ABGL.
Perhaps this story is nothing more than a drop in the ocean- one product from an immense array, just one vertical in a worldwide conglomerate.
But from my side?
It is a sincere thank you to ABGL for producing high quality, thoughtfully priced substitutes for essential goods like wool, in the form of Viscose Filament Yarn.
Away went the rashes. Away went the cold nights. And in came years of joy-filled winters.
And I, Sara Subramaniam, grew up a happy Indian Rayon baby.
