MBA life in itself has a background story, a running film and a story yet to unfold – unique to everyone. Mine was no different when I got the news that I made it to XIMB.
Like a dewy-eyed fawn, I was mesmerised by the greenery all around the campus with a light drizzle playing its magic.
What makes my campus unique is the student initiation process which I found enthralling. Here we have a 31-year-old legacy of Fresher Initiation Program where the seniors welcome their juniors. We were given a couple of group activities to force us to interact with as many as possible and also meet the role senior and getting to know about him. This role senior would be our mentor in every way possible for our MBA life in and out. Finally, the session ended with a bang-on clash among existing blocks where we were given an open stage to display our unique talents to win laurels for the respective blocks.
In addition to this, we have ‘Bhainas’ who are basically the supporting staff comprising of mess workers to the logistics facility team. The whole student community respects them, has fun with them involving in all sorts of sports activities and also celebrating many festivals since they are our family here.
Not just this, each and every committee here is student-driven with able leaders and members doing their part to guide us freshers into the way of life that we are soon to embrace. The diversity of students makes it easy for everyone to mingle and know about each other’s culture, making life interesting.
Due to a strong industrial relationship, we have almost perfect placement record on par with the new IIMs, inspite of being situated in a city like Bhubaneswar.
Each and everyone is fiercely passionate about their alma mater and the solidarity displayed when organising events like Xpressions, XSports and XCapade etc is marvellous.
At the end of the day I feel very privileged for being a part of this amazing campus - My XIMB.
Which ABG company I would like to work for?
I’ve had an interest in the marketing field for quite some time. I’m pursuing MBA so that I can change my domain to marketing. ABG is one of the top conglomerates in India and is also listed in the Fortune 500 companies. The ABG company that I would like to work for is Aditya Birla Retail Limited, as it has a huge brand empire where I could make a stand and achieve the marketing experience that I am wholeheartedly interested in.
