A lot has been said about IIM Indore primarily about the batch size. But there is so much more to the campus, fondly called by its inhabitants as the Castle on the Hill which is the most unique feature. Rightly called so, the campus is a fortress guarded by the guard towers that encircle the campus. The castle on the hill as the layers, the tip of the hill being the revered academic block where you can see numerous students running to their classes around 8.45am after sleeping hardly 3 hours the previous night. The next layer includes the hot and happening place of the campus which included the PGP2 hostels, the revered Pi Shop, Messes, Adda- the IIM Indore hangout where at night time you can see people playing board games, doing assignments and also sometimes strumming a guitar and signing soulful melodies. The final layer includes the 1st year hostels referred as “Lanka” as it is extremely far from the rest of the central castle causing Lanka’s inhabitants to groan and moan every time they have to run to the academic block or for good food. The ladies of castle nestle comfortably in their own safe corner apart from the hustle and bustle yet close enough to avoid the long walks (or runs) to the academic block. The castle is regulated by tough schedules for the first years where as the second years lounge about creating envy in the mind of every first year student. The key characteristics of the castle on the hill that make it the apple of the eye of every other campus is the excellent weather year around, the biggest sports complex including an Olympic size swimming pool, tennis court, squash, cricket grounds, sauna’s and 3 basketball courts as well as badminton courts and table tennis courts. The second years fully utilize these facilities with the key “let me lose the weight since I have the free time”. The essentials on campus are free flowing through established trade routes keeping everyone happy on the castle on hill.
