An MBA after marriage! A decision to be away from your spouse and family for 2 years! Challenges were over weighing but so was the conviction. Destiny had its plans in sync with mine. A dream blended with aspiration, ambition and action landed me to the place I always wanted to be- the IIM. And Shillong added a silver lining to it.
Oil, the ‘black gold’ as many people call it, is the most valuable three letter word today. Speaking about India, nearly one – third of the country’s energy supply comes from Oil and it is a heart of the country’s economy. It is interesting to know that in 2011, the domestic work force serving the oil and gas industry numbered 141929 to be precise. Out of this total manpower resource, the majority were employed in the ‘oil Marketing Sector’, followed by ‘exploration and production sector’ and the ‘refining sector’.
Mr. Suresh Mhatre, Vice President – Tata Consultancy Services, President – Institute of Management Consultants (IMCI), has 30+ years of experience in the corporate world. Mr. Mhatre did his Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering from University Of Mumbai and pursued his Masters in Industrial and Systems Engineering from University of Florida. He recently received an award of excellence for best Government to Citizen Initiative, ELETS, E-Maharashtra. He is also a member of Board for various B-schools.
Have you ever wondered how different our lives would have been sans chocolates? Well, nothing much would have changed except that parents would have found it really difficult to entice their bratty children into doing homework, lonely hostellers would have had to find other more ‘harmful’ things to boost their endorphin levels that in turn is required to improve their concentration levels and helps combat stress, it would have been really difficult for indolent souls to chicken out with not going through the ordeal of buying gifts.. that is pretty much it! TISS is something fundamentally different. And now that I have got that so very clichéd yet so very true statement out of the way, let us try and identify the things that make TISS the lovely place that it is for a student.
