Red Building Of Dreams - Anisha Singh, FMS Delhi

My campus is unique in its core structure – we have a small campus with limited resources, but the limited resources never compromise with the quality of the study. All the faculties here are PhD and they make sure that students learn theory with a practical approach. At campus, teachers and seniors are easily approachable – we at FMS believe in unity and the small campus brings us together. With its inception in 1954, the campus has seen all that has taken place in the business world, and thus holds an important place in India’s business history. At our campus, we make the optimum use of limited resources and learn to manage everything efficiently with minimum inputs – Managers are made to do so, aren’t they?

Red Building Of Dreams - Hitesh Lohani, FMS Delhi

In a country full of IIMs, FMS Delhi is the most unique B-school one can find. Every aspect of my campus from its semester system to its location at the heart of Delhi University is unique in itself. But the thing that makes my campus unique is its glorious culture. A day in the life at a B-school is usually more or less the same across most of the colleges in India but a day in the life at FMS is a truly unique experience which cannot be replicated anywhere. We don’t have a hundred-acre campus to boast of but we have a cozy campus which is a second home for us. Staying on the campus together, we have formulated such strong bonds among the batchmates as well as with the seniors. Thanks to the batch size of around 200, everyone knows everyone else at the campus. Our Dean ma’am believes in the philosophy of ‘One integrated campus’ where everyone is a part of one big family and is always looking out for each other. This is one unique aspect of our culture which cannot be found in any other B-school. The first week of induction spent in a room together with people from diverse backgrounds created life-lasting bonhomie among our batch mates. Also, we are extremely fortunate to have the most helpful and caring seniors who toil day and night just to prepare us for our placements. The seniors at FMS play multiple roles for their juniors-sometimes as their mentor, sometimes their teacher, and sometimes their friend. This is what makes my campus unique- we don’t compete with each other, we complete each other.

16 Cities, 33 Salesmen And 60 Days With A Shot Outside The Comfort Zone!

16 Cities, 33 Salesmen And 60 Days With A Shot Outside The Comfort Zone!

Humbled is what you feel when you get to experience so much in just a matter of 60 days. Its definitely not easy going to sleep in one city and waking up in another, travelling through your nights and working through your days, interacting with the sales team and roaming with them around the markets for 8 hours under the blazing temperature of 48 degrees or for that matter educating retailers of products like I-pill and I-know in societies where sex is still a taboo. But hey, who said sales is easy!

IIM Shillong – As Unique As It Gets

IIM Shillong – As Unique As It Gets

Do you think IIM Shillong is just too far away from the heart of the country? What if I were to tell you that despite the distance, IIM Shillong depicts all the colours and flavours of India? Yes, you read it right. IIM Shillong is mini India and has people from every corner of India. We are a family here. Shillong is the ‘Scotland of East’ and we, the participants, have already tasted the flavour of Shillong two weekends in a row. The treks are really beautiful and the Law Kyntang forest is one of the most picturesque places one can visit. We are not only in the cradle of Nature here but also very close to the local communities here. We carry the banner of Late Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam’s message and teach the kids of schools nearby under the Nurturing Minds program. We have a club completely dedicated to sustainability. ECoBiz devises methods by which sustainability can be implemented successfully in various businesses across various domains. Being close to nature fills us with oneness with mother Earth. We have a week-long program entirely dedicated to sustainability. We spend time learning green marketing, green economics, green technology, green human resource management. Also, IIM Shillong is the cleanest campus in India and we are soon to be plastic bags free campus too. A proud moment indeed. We believe in giving back to the society. We are the most energy efficient and energy conserving campus in India.

IIM Shillong - The Abode Of Clouds

IIM Shillong, the “Abode of Clouds” provides the most serene and spiritual environment for learning.  The beauty of this place is not restricted to the picturesque landscapes but also includes the culture at IIM Shillong. Whether it is waking up to a thunderstorm or a calm sunny day and whether it is the melodious sounds of singing birds in the morning or the chirping of crickets at night; we get to appreciate nature in its different forms. The culture at our campus is what we take pride in. What appear to be idealistic qualities to the outside world are practiced here. We live in harmony with nature and also with each other. Perhaps there is a strong influence of the regional tribes of Shillong on the campus culture. Division of society or discrimination is non-existent in our campus and hence first year and second year are treated equally and it has one of the most diverse batches in terms of gender, academic and geographical diversity. We respect the differences that exist amongst ourselves and we believe in learning from each other’s experiences. We respect and appreciate the Khasi people for their love of nature and attempt to do the same by applying various sustainable practices in our daily lives. We are approaching towards a “plastic-free campus” and have installed “bamboo dustbins”. The solar panels installed to generate electricity for the campus. We also hold an annual sustainability conference called “SUS-CON” where some powerful voices raise their concern and strategize for sustainable development. We go on a “sustainability trek” to appreciate and respect nature and to observe the places which have not yet been exploited by humans. Learning from the teachings of Dr. A.P. J Abdul Kalam Sir, we have tried to imbibe some of his qualities in us. He always believed in serving the society by providing education and nurturing creativity in the young minds. The students at IIM Shillong have taken an initiative called “Nurturing Minds” where they volunteer to teach underprivileged children from more than seven schools from and around Shillong. The mission of IIM Shillong includes developing innovative leaders with strong ethical values; therefore we try to inculcate these ethical values in us from the very beginning of our journey at IIM Shillong. Here at IIM Shillong, we don’t just preach but we practice these values as we believe that the management of Earth and its resources is the most important form of management.
