On 25th of June 2018, I started my journey of MBA in Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT) New Delhi. In these 15 days, the thing which I like the most is the essence of punctuality and hard work. The journey started with a rigorous one week program named Parichay, where seniors groomed us for the upcoming months of hectic MBA life.
My initial two weeks at IIFT have been so heavily occupied that I doubt if I have been so productive in any two weeks of my life. I am now getting to experience the rigors of the life at a premier business school. But I feel that the kind of satisfaction I have been feeling at IIFT, each night before going to the bed, is unprecedented. I believe that I and all my batchmates have been learning some greatly important life lessons, some even unknowingly, as we proceed through our MBA.
You enter through the front gate, take a long glance at the building and let the feeling sink in. Yes, you have made it, to one of the most prestigious B-school of the country. Walk a bit further and observe the statue (Wings of wisdom) in all its grandeur, explore some more and soon you will be at the ‘Top of the world’.
July 25, 2018 was the fateful day when my journey as an MBA student specializing in International Business at Indian Institute of Foreign Trade, Delhi began. It was an ineffable experience of becoming a student again at such a reputed institute long time after my engineering days got over a couple of years back. The zeal and enthusiasm to revisit college days overwhelmed me with tears of joy. It is my first experience to live in a college hostel which brought out mixed emotions of excitement and anxiety of staying away from home for first time in my life.
I see the days as they transition from the cool pink of the evening skies to the blinding yellow of the summer sun beating down mercilessly on the parched Earth. I remember the charcoal grey clouds as they engulfed the sun and provided respite from the scorching heat. I see the lush greenery of Sanjay Van and sand colored obelisks of IIFT jutting out into the sky, standing there and weathering the elements, narrating a tale to anyone who listens.
After impatiently waiting for results, the D-day arrived without any warning. Seeing my name in the list left me numb for a minute. By the time I regained my senses I was on cloud nine. Days passed by and the day of induction crept forward slowly but steadily, and anxiety took over my initial excitement. As I had never been to Delhi before, I was awestruck by the grandeur of the capital city. My first step into Indraprastha, the city of Pandavas made the butterflies in my stomach flutter.
After months of toiling and surviving through the rigorous B-school admission process, you feel a sense of relief, excitement and happiness when you convert one of the premier B-schools of India. But before you could soak in the glory, you realise the time has come to enter the battlefield with another battle to survive.
