From the very first day at Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies, I have found that everything about the institute is unique. Right from the diversified crowd of students to the esteemed professors, each attribute of the college stands out. But during my one year in the college, I feel that the most memorable and fascinating experience I have had, has to be the annual festival “Prayaag 18” and specifically the competition named Survival of the Fittest which was a complete blend of case studies and fun games spanning over a period of 50 hours. When one walks in the lane in which JBIMS is located, he or she could be forgiven to fail to recognize one of the premier b-school of India because of its small campus. Though JBIMS has a small campus, the magnitude of its presence is felt at the right place - the corporate world. JBIMS is the alma mater of the who’s who’s of the business world. The aura, high ROI and placements of JBIMS attracts the top students every year and I am no exception. JBIMS had been my dream since the time I had decided that I wanted to pursue a career in management. After the dreaded and hectic induction process, the first thing one experiences in JBIMS is an erratic academic schedule since most of our lectures are conducted by visiting faculties who run their own businesses or are at prominent positions in big companies. S. Basu, Ex- Vice Chairman of HUL in 1965. It all started from CST station to the iconic red brick building of JBIMS. I came to Mumbai with a bag and a suitcase. A bag full of dreams and a suitcase full of ‘Formals’. I looked at the old brick red building that shone of a legacy built over 50 years and thought about all the things I would do in here. About the legacy of JBIMS, it is here since 1965, everything about this place, physical and intellectual, feels ‘heritage’. The striking red building, the spacious (newly renovated) classroom, one of Asia’s largest libraries, the traditional ‘South Bombay’ infrastructure and of course the extensive alumni network built over 53 years. Who would not be in awe of a B-school with such a rich alumni heritage which is also known as – ‘The CEO Factory’ of India.
