Laksh And Taksh At MDI

I still remember that day vividly, April 19th 2018. I was working in my office and a push notification came on Pagalguy app. MDI results announced. Tremors started shaking my hands, heartbeat raised to 180 maybe and with a lot of tensed feeling, I opened the website to check my result. That was it, I was offered an admission into the flagship program of MDI. That was the moment I embarked on this Mandevian journey.

I Took A Leap Of Faith And Embarked On My Journey Into The World Of MBA

I can remember the day I received admission confirmation from IIM Rohtak. I felt happy as well sad. It was a mixed feeling because I was feeling happy, but I was afraid. I was glad to join this wonderful institute but was afraid that I won’t survive a day without my loved ones. I took a leap of faith and embarked on my journey into the world of B-school. It was a tough decision to join IIM Rohtak.

I joined MDI on 14th June 2018 filled with excitement for a new phase in my life. We had 10 days of the induction process. As at the end of the induction, we all got exhausted because of the hectic schedule, numerous guest lectures and sleepless nights. In retrospect it was all worth it. Finally, on 25th June, our regular classes started. On the day of our business statistics class we met the one of the funniest and most brilliant faculty. Even though we had a long day and a sleepless night we did not fell asleep in his class.  As I had an engineering background I thought statistics is going to be a cakewalk for me but the same myth was busted on the first day itself. We were introduced to the market basket analysis and then we got to know how the probability can be used to solve the practical problem and to increase the sell of the FMCG products by decoding the consumer behavior using the invoices data.

MDI Gurgaon – All In A Day's Work

I entered MDI with a variety of extraordinary expectations one of which was it was to be on similar lines with my undergrad. But during the first week of induction I was made to face the reality and get accustomed to life in a Bschool. We as a batch were handed over to the student council, they taught us that these 2 years aren't about whiling time away rather there will be an extreme dearth of time. Sleepless nights and high pressure deadlines became a common thing. The whole week was packed with various tasks and sessions. Towards the end, the last task given was The 'sell your senior' task. It was the most entertaining time I had since I stepped foot in college. In the task we were given three seniors each and we had to make them into a product or service and make a PPT or video as an advertisement of the product. The curious part was that we couldn't contact the allotted seniors rather had to contact their friends and collect information about them. I spoke to tens of seniors to get as many funny stories, in the process I got to know a whole set of wonderful people, their experiences in the whole year. I made three seniors into a book, pills and a footballer building on the funny instances I heard from their friends. It was an amazing experience as it was an opportunity to connect with the seniors, interact with a whole new  set of people. Also, recording the reaction of seniors watching the video was even more fun. They got all excited about how did I get the information who gave it, I was so well appreciated for the effort I put. This whole exercise was in extreme contrast to the previous task and so all the more exciting.

Meri Ek Kahani - MDI

Meri Ek Kahani - MDI

I would like to quote one of the most valuable lessons of my life learnt right here in one of the class room sessions at MDI. The subject was Managerial Communication. Barely scampering through the Gurukul (Academic Block) door, rushing in Room number 10, I sighed, gathered my breath for I managed to reach in time. But there were some major alterations in the classroom setting to be witnessed. A cameraman with all his kit stood right in the centre of the classroom with the focus on teacher's podium. With the cameraman diligently adjusting his equipment, curious faces guessing what this is all about kinds of faces all around. Somehow, it was a telling sight of trouble to come, and the gut just finds a way to prophesize it. Discussions anticipating of what's to follow had a point which was not to be found. The Professor enters and sets the ball rolling straight away. We had our first evaluation and that an extempore, to be recorded right in front of the batch and videos to be played later. Our comfort zone had gone for a toss long way up in the air. Not only did we have to narrate our stories addressing 60 people, but it would also be subject to openly criticized through a video recording. Our imperfections, our insecurities to be out in front of everybody. But what followed, was the experience of a lifetime. Our raw most selves, talking about our childhood, of passion, nostalgia, mistakes, regrets and importantly learnings set each story apart and each story was worth listening to. We spoke our hearts out in front of people we recently met, appreciating the vulnerability of others too. By the end of the session, our batch felt much closer and we realized that beauty lies in imperfections.

Elections At MDI

A lot of hard work, patience and determination and a number of interviews finally completed my Mba dream. I landed at one of the prestigious colleges and life encountered a different kind of thrill. Down to one week of induction and I had witnessed a plethora of emotions by now. It felt like you have to do everything at once. The life became a sea of opportunities and everyone wants to seize it as soon as it is possible. Everyone wants to do everything. People are tired and have their plate full but they will still volunteer for each and every thing. The peer to peer relationship is extremely competitive yet sweet. So it’s a very enrichening kind of experience. I want to share something a particular day and maybe the incidents leading to it.
